I don't do any martial arts and I'm enjoying the hell out it. Thanks for the link. Now Ivey needs to do a voice over on some of his most famous hands.

I am on 5 now, they only get better as you go along! I am not positive that if I had to choose one, that I would prefer to have and Ivey video over the Fedor one to be honest. This is the nuts. imo

I love videos like these. Even more so if the video is from Fedor. Good find!

Hello thread. I had questions on how some of the money flows. Do fighters pay to participate in these "camps"? When they receive money for a fight, do the trainers get a cut? How do the specialized trainers get paid?

This might be common knowledge but I'm ignorant.
07-29-2009 , 10:24 AM
Trainers get paid for their services in the training camp during the training camp I think.

Anderson is going to box RJJ.

Damn, at least make it a kickboxing or muay thai match so you can win, Anderson.

The internet isn't a good place to gauge how popular Fedor is in North America. Most of the UFC's audience won't know who he is or will have only heard of him briefly through some Affliction advertising or one of their friends who is "hardcore into MMA".

So that's why I don't think the UFC is ready to bend over for him yet. Right now Fedor and his team are the ones that have to be willing to negotiate.

And don't forget UFC 100 was a stacked event that was super-hyped and considered "historical" and all that. Brock brings in TONS of buys but that particular event had a lot more to offer than just one HW title fight.
the thing is, with a good hype machine behind fedor if they give it a month+joe rogan talking it up on PPVs+PRIDE footage= Fedor being extremely viable from a PPV buy-rate standpoint. Honestly, they'd just have to show the Randleman suplex several times and that'd be able to draw in some buys right from that

^^this. Rogan has mentioned fedor several times on PPV broadcasts in the past and you can be damn sure that he alone would be able to get a lot of casual UFC fans to know about Fedor just from him talking about it on PPV

UFC is damned if they do, damned if they don't. While its not like there's a ton of options at this point for a top fighter, one has to look at UFCs POV for this. They are a massive promotion and would be foolish to even have the possibility of a belt holder leaving their promotion with the belt.

strikeforce is a very long way away from being a real competitor to UFC on a national stage. Strikeforce would also be foolish to try to compete against UFC right now at this point, they are a major regional promotion and its in their best interest to keep it that way for the foreseeable future. Strikeforce can't afford Fedor w/o some serious silent money coming in right now anyway

Goddamn, Sherdog sucks. I'm trying to read more than 10 posts at a time, so I decide to login to some old account I have there that I've never posted with. Doesn't work. It says it doesn't exist.

Whatever, I'll just make a new account. "Sorry, registration has been disabled by the administrator." WTF?

So, I'll try "Contact Us"...failure. Does anything on that site work right?

Ok so assume fedor goes to the ufc handicap these potential matchups

fedor vs lesanr (i know there is already a line on this but would like peoples thoughts on what it should be)

fedor vs randy

fedor vs machida (say catch weight at 215 or something)

I'm pretty sure Anderson can just retire at the end of his contract when it expires whether he's champion or not. What he wouldn't be able to do is go out and fight for another promotion.
07-29-2009 , 03:22 PM
Yeah, pretty sure he can retire.

If the UFC has the power to stop champions from retiring when they want to that's pretty ridiculous.

Fedor has never cut weight and probably will never cut weight.

UFC can't stop you from retiring but they can stop you from competing in any other organization with the clause.

Think I read it somewhere last time this SIlva/RJJ fight was discussed.

Man burned once again by Fedor, the UFC, and the media. This Fedor conference call is cocktease. Fedor is headlining the EA game, they countered a "good offer" by the UFC w/ an M-1 co-promotion offer (they mention this like 10 times), and now they are mainly discussing M-1 and how it will expand with more shows in the future.

Not sure why I ever got my hopes up but there is a near 0% chance of Fedor in the UFC until he loses a fight and thus some of his bargaining power.

edit: LOL, Vadim throwing down the gauntlet: "Fedor and I are partners and we share the same interests. Money isn’t everything…. We want to develop MMA. The UFC won’t be able to control the whole world."
