I think keeping the monthly thread in EDF is the best option. By all means start one in SE, but I would hate to lose the EDF thread and only have one MMA thread in SE overrun with general sports fans.
Perfect example of SE MMA tardness:

She probably gave the shocker to Bisping (cause he's got a vagina) and never recovered.

+10million. I don't post in the monthly threads here as much as I should, but I've stopped posting MMA at DeathValleyDriver(well, stopped posting there in general), can't read Sherdog anymore and the ******ation that's currently going on in SE is proof positive why this thread is needed

This was an interesting thread to compare to from 4L:

The majority of the discussion over there is ******ed... Not even worth your time Mikey.

On the 4L one, I was a little taken aback by the discussion that Fedor was over-rated and had not fought anyone for five years or so. : ) Nice guy saying it though.

Someone saying something like "Fedor would be a 4-1 fave against Brock" had me cracking up.
07-14-2009 , 06:47 PM
I think Fedor should be a fairly large favourite actually, not 4-1, but if it were anywhere close to evens I'd be piling on him

A caller on Junkie Radio today suggested that if done properly, Cro Cop could be a potentially formidable opponent for Brock given the current UFC roster.

I don't think Cro Cop would win the fight a lot of the time, but I started thinking that Cro Cop might have the best chance to knock him out.

Thoughts?

The problem that I see is that high kicks leave you more vulnerable to a takedown, so a guy who relies a lot on them like Crocop better be very accurate with them. He misses, it can go quickly to the ground where Brock will have the advantage.

cro cop kind of sucks now i dont think hed have much of a chance
07-14-2009 , 07:52 PM
brock crocop would be a joke.

just off the top of my head carwin and gonzaga would have a far better chance of knocking him out. crocop is just too small - at some point even if youve shown explosive power the size difference matters too much (unless you are pacman).

that said i dont think we've seen anything to indicate what kind of chin brock has, but just based on the size and shape of his head it would figure to be pretty good.

By this I mean Cro Cop wins like 1:10, pure striker's chance KO. Stop acting like I'm lauding around predicting a victory.

yeah i like gonzaga a lot too

i'd rank brock's challengers as

1) fedor
2) randy
3) carwin/gonzaga about tied
5) overeem

if velasquez gets the next shot im betting the max on brock no matter what the line

FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR! FEDOR!

Can't think of anything else that is currently possible, especially that would blow a mind. That or possibly something with Liddell. If GSP wasn't injured then maybe him and Anderson Silva are talking. Nothing else is coming to mind though.

isn't fedor still under contract w/ affliction?
07-14-2009 , 08:32 PM
Guys, Dana blogs about an upcoming news announcement that will 'blow your minds' every month. It's normally something about how Steve Mazegatti shaved his moustache, or he worked out that Chuck Liddell has fought in the last 5 prime-numbered UFC cards, or that they've decided to induct Dan Severn into the UFC H.O.F. Something like that. I wouldn't get too excited about fedor.

Dana White said he hopes he never has to see Chuck fight again during some Spike show last month where Amir Sadollah was interviewing him and asked what was next for Chuck.
07-14-2009 , 09:23 PM
Yeah, but that would almost "blow my mind". I've never read a Dana White blog, so I don't know.

When guys like Wanderlei and Cro Cop had their first fights in the UFC, I really dug how excited Rogan and Goldburg were during the walkout and the crowd response. I've been wanting to hear the same thing with Fedor for awhile. It's a long shot, but I like that kinda sh*t. Strictly fanboy nuthuggin'.
07-14-2009 , 10:03 PM
Also, where can I watch next week's DREAM card?
07-14-2009 , 10:13 PM
Ugh that pinky is twisted. Still worth a hit
