I take particular schadenfreude in seeing MMA fans get this upset.

Fedor was offered 5 mill per fight (6 fights) + PPV cut + Combat Sambo allowed
07-29-2009 , 10:14 PM
would have been highest base salary ever in MMA I think.

Jesus christ. If that's true, it's unbelievable how ******ed they are to turn it down.

LOL what the **** are those Russians doing?? The UFC was willing to give M-1 a cut of the PPV on top of Fedor's salary?? Amazing and yet they still turn it down. I don't even know if it can be considered Fedor ducking Brock b/c that is so much money, anyone would fight Brock for that amount. This is bizarro MMA business world.

On the other hand, I sort feel a sense of respect for the Russians. They have a stance, they were offered the most lucrative MMA contract in history to change that stance, and instead they turned it down and stuck to their beliefs. Crazy stuff.

They basically repackaged the last special with a bit of extra footage. The part I watched was the exact same as the previous special with Rich Franklin being interviewed in his old class room except they added footage of his fight from Henderson and Silva. They just repackaged it.

Update/Details from Dave Carmichael

What M-1 meant by the UFC's"very generous offer"....

So we all know the deal with M-1 and what they are saying about co-promotion. I'm not here to say who's right and wrong in this deal, but I can tell you some of the specifics that were offered to Fedor.....

- The UFC offered Fedor a 6 fight, 30 million dollar contract. That's 5 mil a fight

- The UFC offered Fedor an immediate title shot

- Lesnar/Fedor would be the biggest PPV in MMA history (we assume), and the UFC offered M-1 Global a cut of the PPV on top of Fedor's purse.

- Fedor was free to wear as many M-1 logoed items as he wished.

- The UFC also relented on allowing Fedor to compete in combat sambo.

Apparently, for good or bad, M-1 refuses to sign a deal unless the UFC agrees to co-promote.

I can tell you right now, the boys at ZUFFA will never, EVER agree to that. So if M-1 doesnt relent on that item alone, the Fedor to UFC talks are dead. Look for Team Emelianenko to turn to Strikeforce next. With co-promotions already in the books with Affliction, that shouldnt be a stopping point.

HOW THE HELL COULD THEY TURN THAT **** DOWN.

i just don't get it. how much vodka does it take to say no to these terms?

vodka usually makes me say 'yes'.
07-30-2009 , 12:36 AM
how could the ufc even offer that much? seems dumb.
07-30-2009 , 12:39 AM
Looking at the supposed offer again, there is no way Fedor turns it down without something else going on or terms just being gossip. I mean, 5mm x6 AND m1 getting ppv cuts with free reign on ads? (Not to mention super duper sambo tournies) There's no way... M1 is holding out before finalizing this fri. with ufc or it's all bs imo

It's not because Fedor is worth that much, it's because it pretty much kills the chance of any promotion ever competing with them domestically, ever.

that offer is pretty crazy but that's obviously a zuffa leak so who knows if they're telling the full story.
