CSAC is shady IMO. Why did it take so long (3 weeks) to determine that Barnett wasn't clean? Why don't UFC fighters get tested this far ahead of a fight? It seems that the only times a UFC fighter gets a positive test is AFTER the fight when it doesn't really even matter for Zuffa. Just seems kind of odd especially with Dana White and Tom Atencio's "grudge" and the fact that IIRC the UFC was originally supported by organized crime money.

I agree with Brett Rodgers. I'd like to see that mostly cause he's not that well known yet and doesn't have the much of a "career" in MMA yet and would fight his *ss off.

Strikeforce has said Rogers or Werdum will NOT be fighting Fedor on Aug. 1st.

Fabricio Werdum, Brett Rogers ruled out of "Affliction: Trilogy" bout with Fedor Emelianenko

Fedor vs Monson, make it happen!

This. I am not buying this PPV if it is Vitor/Fedor simply because that matchup causes us to lose two fights since obv Vitor/Santiago would be off as well. Pretty ****ty situation for Affliction that Barnett single handedly has pretty much killed a pretty good card.

Vitor vs Santiago and the winner faces Fedor to the death!
07-22-2009 , 07:44 PM
Tito is really the only logical choice the more I think about it. He already has been flirting with Affliction, they NEED Vitor for the fight he is in really. The question is if Tito would take the fight. He would be an idiot to take that fight on such short notice, so he probably would.

I'm assuming Affliction is going to lose a lot of PPV buys on this. Would it be so bad as to cause them to fold? I have no clue, I'm just asking.
07-22-2009 , 08:15 PM
I'm not sure how Fedor-Vitor makes sense since they are 2 weight classes apart and this kills another fight on the card. I'm hoping Affliction isn't done looking at options (although, I'm not watching this card anyway, so whatever).

Vitor has fought at LHW and heavyweight the majority of his career. It was just last year that he debuted as a middleweight. He is probably walking around at about 205 right now and seeing as Fedor is a small heavyweight (around 230-235 or so) he could fairly easily be up around 215-220 by the time of the fight. SUre, that is still giving up a good amount of weight but not as much as it seems when you just look at a "middleweight versus the greatest heavyweight of all time."

Hopefully we will get Demian Maia vs Brock Lesnar for new years.

Hey, what's good enough for BodogFight is good enough for Affliction.

Well that is a huge difference than Belfort/Fedor. First of all Fedor is a small heavyweight while Lesnar is as big a heavyweight as you will find. Secondly, Demian Maia is an average sized middleweight that has fought at middleweight his entire career IIRC but Vitor Belfort has fought at LHW the majority of his career and has also fought at heavyweight. Therefore, that comparison is rather silly and not even close to what we are going to see if Vitor/Fedor really is what goes down on August 1st.

And Aoki vs Anderson Silva would also be less than Lesnar vs Fedor. I dont think its a great point to be made. Vitor is still a good middleweight that (might) face the best heavyweight in the world.

I am not happy either that Vitor will be headlining against Fedor BUT I understand that the options they have are limited. Werdum and Rogers were blocked by Strikeforce, obviously no one from the UFC can fight in this. Who else is there 9 days from the fight? I would rather see Vitor v. Fedor than Yvel v. Fedor or Buentello v. Fedor. There just aren't any options and I have warmed up to the fact that Vitor is the best one I have seen discussed despite my disappointment that that means no Vitor/Santiago earlier on the card.

Have not read every rumor about this but have Jeff Monson been mentioned?

Edit: He fought 10 days ago tho, might not be possible.

Karitonov, but he might be way out of shape.

It just is so lose lose for Fedor. If he wins "omfg who cares he beat a MW hes so overrated!!!!" if he somehow loses for the first time in 32 fights "omfg knew it!!! Fedor exposed!!!" Just my 2 cents.
07-22-2009 , 09:49 PM
I am sure that there will be all kinds of names talked about before it is over. Who knows if they make that fight and it works out maybe they can get Michael Carbajal to come out of retirement to fight one of the Klitchko's.
