Watching Dream 10 made me realize how truly terrible Mike Goldberg is. I think I'd actually be more excited about "The Voice" joining the UFC than Fedor at this point.

In a perfect world, "The Voice" and that other guy that does play by play on Dream would commentate, Joe Rogan would do interviews and prefight analysis, and Bas would do mini features in which he'd frequently use phrases like "kick to the groin" and "bang bang bang."

Maybe Franklin and Henderson will be much better this time around since Franklin doesn't have a penalty hanging over his head if he wins. He pretty much told everyone he had no interest in coaching the last season of ultimate fighter.

Brian Stann vs. Steve Cantwell III slated for UFN 19

Cantwell should take that one pretty easily

That was likely a non-factor.

Don't know why they gave Stann another shot at him, but oh well...this is almost like Hughes and GSP; more experienced fighter beats green young gun in the first match, young gun improves by leaps and bounds, crushes the vet in the 2nd, and Cantwell should reprise the GSP role from Hughes/GSP 3 here

I think that's the funniest version I've ever seen

IMO, with the news of the Henderson/Franklin fight this should create a 4 man "tournament" for the next shot at Silva. Winner of Henderson/Franklin fights winner of Maia/Marquardt. As much as I wouldn't want to see Franklin fight Silva again, it would at least give meaning to an otherwise completely meaningless fight.

If franklin manages to beat Henderson and then the winner of Maia/Marquardt, I'd assume he somehow improved enough to possibly beat Silva next time.

“I must point out that his victory is a defeat for the sport as such. Don’t get me wrong, Lesnar is a fearsome and very dangerous opponent, but I am old school, I prefer skill and technique. This win was a defeat of martial skills. Much of what he achieved in the fight is a result of pure power… Of course, Lesnar has quality sparring partners, is an experienced wrestler and a man who learns very quickly. But he is yet to have a real struggle. He does not have many fights in his career and I would love to see how he would react to two or three good low kicks.”

Pride FC 2006 Open Weight Grand Prix winner Mirko Filipovic (25-6-2) talks about Brock Lesnar’s ability to win using strength and power rather than technique and skill. “Cro Cop” recently returned to Zuffa at UFC 99, performing unlicensed orogolomistician surgery on Mustapha Al-Turk en route to a TKO victory back on June 13.

Does anyone even think CroCop could get off one "good low kick" before being put on his back?

Fedor-Barnett Bout in Jeopardy
Tuesday, July 21, 2009
Loretta Hunt
Fedor-Barnett Bout in Jeopardy Affliction Entertainment and M-1 Global are looking for a new opponent to face Fedor Emelianenko at Affliction “Trilogy” on Aug. 1 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

Multiple sources have told Sherdog.com that the California State Athletic Commission will not license Josh Barnett after a positive result on a pre-fight test. Calls to the California State Athletic Commission and Affliction Entertainment were not immediately returned.

Barnett said he had not been notified of any issues with his eligibility as of Tuesday evening.

“I took my test three weeks ago. I would have thought I would have heard something by now,” Barnett told Sherdog.com.

However, the former UFC heavyweight champion said he had not checked his phone messages recently and later added, “No matter what happens with this, I can assure you I will clear my name. This will not be something that I am defined by.”

Vitor Belfort has agreed in principle to face the world’s No. 1 heavyweight on 11 days’ notice, according to two separate sources close to the negotiations. One source told Sherdog.com that Emelianenko will have the opportunity to choose between Belfort and Bobby Lashley. Lashley has denied knowing anything about replacing Barnett, though.

"I don't know if I would want it right now. Since the last fight, I haven't really been into training again," he said. "That fight is next week. That would be something I would really have to take a look at. To just jump in there probably wouldn't be the smartest thing for me right now. A lot of people would say that might be a money fight. They figure, 'If we give him enough money, will he do it?' That's what people tend to look at. I don't want to get into fighting for the money so much right now.”

Belfort, a former UFC light heavyweight champion, is scheduled to face American Top Team standout Jorge Santiago in a middleweight bout on the Aug. 1 card.
It would be a disaster for Lashley to take this fight and I am not so sure a guy training for a fight at middleweight would be wise to move up to face the top heavyweight in the world....

I don't think it's too far fetched for Franklin to wn both of those fights. He's a terribly underrated fighter. Although at any time in their respective careers, Anderson would KO Franklin.

That would suck if Barnett can't fight

But, if he is allegedly using steroids, it would be great if he quit before he has to allegedly but not really die like Kimo. Allegedly.
07-22-2009 , 02:41 AM
I don't get why he got tested BEFORE the fight. Is it because he tested positive for steroids in the past?
07-22-2009 , 02:43 AM
To catch people nowadays in the post "Clear" 'roid age, you have to test before, during, and after. imo
07-22-2009 , 04:05 AM
This is basically a massive disaster for the affliction card, ala when shamrock dropped out of the kimbo fight... it crushes the card... except they can throw anyone in with Fedor and not worry about him not being able to handle the fight. If Barnett cant get cleared I have no idea who is gonna fight, because of the reasons stated before Vitor moving up in short notice and lashely is just.... lol.
