What an incredibly brutal KO. Wowwwwwww.
07-20-2009 , 07:01 AM
sick KO

pretty terrible of the announcer to be screaming "KTFO!!" minutes after the fight ended while the guy is still unconscious and getting breathing **** stuck into him
07-20-2009 , 07:07 AM
the set up to that kick was beautiful

Matt Hamill out 3-4 weeks with injury. Krzysztof Soszynski is his replacement against Brandon Vera at UFC 102.

I am now much more excited for this fight.

Thought the "Jason High's been mounted more times than Jenna Haze" comment was fairly comical.

Rich Franklin vs. Dan Henderson will headline UFC 103

http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=news.detail&gid=21299

Some may be dissapointed in this matchup but I'm a big Franklin fan and feel he got a raw deal in their first fight. Hope to see justice served.

Wait, what? What happened to Dan getting his shot at Anderson? Will he still get it at 185?
07-20-2009 , 05:38 PM
I heard that Krzysztof looks for the Kimura from all angles

The UFC has a great chance to experiment with their first 5-round non-title main event in Hendo/Franklin II. 103 has no title fight and those 2 guys have great gas tanks. The first fight was just getting started when it ended. Come on Dana this opportunity is glaringly obvious.

With them still being only 2 UFC events apart, i guess it could still be possible.

I'm really disappointed with Hendo vs Franklin 2, tbh i don't remember the first fight being very entertaining. ( I didn't watch it more than once live, but i usually watch good fights at least twice more).

Hopefully they're setting up a GSP v. A. Silva superfight first

Enjoyed the DREAM card, especially the vicious KO.

Completely ridicoulus to put up Henderson vs Franklin 2. The only reason it even became slightly exciting is because Henderson let it, and exactly what will this fight mean to either fighter? It can't even be considered a titleshot eliminator since Franklin won't ever get into the cage again with Silva.

God that is terrible news. I thought Henderson put on one of his worst performances against Rich the first time and still won, wtf is the point of a 2nd fight? Like i would say 1/10 fans would be interested in this fight enough for it to be a headliner.

I think it'd be at 205.

It's still quite meh. Rampage vs Evans facing the winner of Machida vs Shogun for the title, so this wont be of much use. As mentioned, Henderson was sloppy and still won the fight clearly (split decision is ridicoulus), and there will be more of the same. Franklin is too small for 205 and wont be an impact at either weight for the next few years, and probably never.

Henderson deserves something better. Like the winner of Marqurdt/Maia or Silva for the title or atleast some kind of eliminationfight to get to Machida.

I came in the thread today to say how much I disliked the Henderson vs Franklin rematch. Just terrible matchmaking
07-20-2009 , 11:31 PM
Lazy matchmaking is closer to the reality than out and out terrible. UFC have a bad history with simply recycling any close decision between two A-class fighters and making an all-but-meaningless rematch.

Henderson should be one match away from a title shot (where imo rematches are a completely different scenario), not being forced to take a fight against a guy he is already above on the ladder. I'd be pretty annoyed if I was him.

Whether this is at 185 or a catchweight also has a huge ability to piss me off, I don't like that it seems as if 195 is essentially being created for Rich Franklin, in the same vein that PRIDE set their LW limit at 160 so Mach and Gomi could make the weight
07-20-2009 , 11:54 PM
i'm annoyed hendo has to go at it with franklin again- it really is a joke of a headline fight imo as well.

agreed hendo should be fighting the winner of marquardt maia for the anderson shot.

that said, hendo is the man for stepping up and taking whatever fight dana gives him- he really is incredible (he's 39 y.o. right?).

Hendo vs Frankin is a sad attempt at a main event
07-21-2009 , 12:25 AM
Is it a pay-per-view card? Or is it going to be like 95 and shown on Spike?

Calm down, the fight is at 205. The 195 fight was just a one-time thing, and there's no way the UFC creates a 195 class any time soon. Also, Pride's LW class was set at 161 because their weight classes were in 10 KG increments below the initial 205 weight class---> 205, 183, 161. It had nothing to do with Gomi.

I don't like the Hendo vs Franklin rematch anymore than you guys, but I really don't want to see Hendo vs Anderson rematch either. Yeah sure, Hendo won the first round. But you've gotta be nuts to think that a year and a half later, Hendo could possibly win the rematch.

Marquardt has improved so much since his first fight with Anderson, now that's a rematch I'd be looking forward to seeing.
