That's a good deal.

The fact that they would lace a more rugged boot like that with bar lacing is tilting the **** out of me.

I should probably consider getting a pair in golden brown. I have the gray as my rain boots and I like the feel of them, but they're not as versatile. Of course, it doesn't rain much in LA and I'm spending too much on other stuff lately.

I finally pulled the trigger on a new briefcase. I ordered and returned two cheapies from Amazon after bad color transfer tests, walked my way up the price line to saddleback, then found this company on a YouTube comparison review when deep down the rabbit hole one night.

Full grain leather and very solid construction. I went with water buffalo because I like the more rugged look but they offer veg tan leather at a price that beats chrome tan from saddleback.

It's a little bigger than I would have preferred but I'm already used to it after a business trip. I'd also trade the magazine pocket in the back for a luggage handle pass through to piggy back on roller suitcases, but I am in love with the look and quality.

I was waiting for this color in this hide to come back in stock and they only had one with a blemish, which is the molted color on the flap you can see. I actually like it fine and it saved me $50, plus there was a holiday discount for an additional 15% off bringing it to $310 which is a steal for this bag.

The company is marlondo and the customer service is great too. Highly recommend if you are looking for mid-level leather goods.

Nice looking bag. Here's my newest purchase, an Epaulet Doyle with a cranberry/maroon Melton wool. As a USC alum, I love the color.

Here's a better photo from Epaulet ...

@Johnny, does your bag have the D rings on the bottom like the saddle back bags? If so you can get the utility straps that saddleback sells (or your vendor probably has something similar) to make a DIY rig for slipping over the rolling bag handle.

Yeah it does, and a large ring in the center top for backpack mode. I can probably get a small bungie cord that will work. Thanks!

Move over Ultra Boosts, I've got a new most comfortable shoe. Picked up these APL Techloom sneakers for $75 at 70% off in the Barney's Warehouse sale. They are so light, the size 9.5 fits perfectly for me (go up half a size), it's got a nice bounce in the sole and I like the clean sides with no branding. Plus this burgundy color goes perfectly with my Epaulet Doyle!

Nice deal on this green Homespun henley at Unionmade sale in sizes S, M and XL. I have one and love it. It's a tougher, more rugged material than my other Homespun henleys. With code EXTRA30, it's only $68.60, plus $10 shipping that can be combined if you want anything else.

I'm in Buenos Aires, and they have some well regarded and relatively affordable custom leather shops so I'm looking in to getting a jacket.

I went to a Silvia y Mario today and it's clearly of a quality that would be way out of my prices range in the states but is a mere splurge at Argentine prices.

The problem is that I've never been able to afford such a level of customization so the options are somewhat overwhelming to me. Calfskin, goatskin, lambskin, plus styles... its dizzying.

I've seen Thug Bubbles Post about buying a custom leather jacket, but I'm interested in hearing if anyone else has any experience with this, or any resources that I should look at.

Something like this is my current starting point.

I'm getting too much of a Thriller vibe from the zipper pockets and the ribbing on the sides of that jacket.

That's a pretty standard looking motorcycle jacket, but I do think the zippers should be taken off (assuming that's an option in the customization).

Noodle,

Depending on if/how they treat the leather, the different skins will have different levels of pliability. Lambskin will be the softest, but also probably the least durable, though all of them will be plenty sturdy. It'd go something like cow/Horse>>Goat>Lamb. Horse and cowhide are incredibly sturdy but also generally require significant break-in. But, again, if they treat the leather at all, it could drape just like any other jacket.

Goat skin also has a bit of a pebble grain to it, so it'll look slightly different. Don't know anything about calfskin other than the grain will be tighter (smoother) than cowhide and it may even be more durable.

As far as styling, just make sure you get something that isn't at all loose. If anything, you'll want it to be just a little snug as the leather will loosen and mold to your body over the months/years. Also, consider the length. Motorcycle jackets are designed to hit at the waist, so unless you have it lengthened, all your shirts will show past it unless you tuck them in. Perhaps that's not a problem for you, but if your like me and hate tucking in shirts with jeans and also hate shirts being longer than outerwear, you'll want to add an inch or two to the length. To that, however, is the pliability again. For example, my Vanson was a mid-weight jacket and it was still stiff enough to stand on it's own when I put it on the floor. Even after 6-7 months of frequent wear, it's still stiff enough to push up into my face when I sit down because that added length + the rigidity means the bottom of the jacket hit's my thighs and which effectively push up the entire jacket because it's not yet broken in enough to drape over them.

Last thing. I expected this kind of annoyance, and actually wanted it, because the jacket was bought to be an everyday wear for the rest of my life. I wanted a jacket that I didn't need to care about scraping up or tearing, and would actually look better as I beat it up. Something that can all do that requires a good couple years break in, honestly. So if you want more of a fashion piece, I'd suggest mentioning that and seeing if they have any treated leather, or just go with the lambskin.

For more info, check out Fedora Lounge. It's the single best place to search for information or ask questions. Those dudes know everything about leather jackets.

I don't know why this is so hard but I've been looking for some light long sleeve non hoody sweatshirts or sweaters to casually wear walking around the city or out to bars.

Basically something that fits 35-60 degree weather, isn't overly formal, isn't super expensive, but makes me look like a 30 year old non-slob.

This is to be paired with dark jeans or navy or gray chinos + chukkas, Cole Haan boots, etc.

Suggestions?

Reigning champ would be the standard suggestion.

Keep or return? When Mr. Porter's biannual sale hit its highest point, I went through and bought $750 worth of stuff figuring I would try them on and see if I wanted to keep them. One thing I'm on the fence about is this Missoni hoodie that I got marked down from $780 to $250, coming to $273 after tax. The thing is that I'm 40 years old and I've never worn a hoodie in my life. But I liked the look of it and there was one in small that was the only left of any size with the 60 percent off plus another 20 percent. So I thought why not take a look at it in person and decide, with Mr. Porter's free and easy returns? Now that I have it in person, I still like the look of it, it fits well and I like the feel of it. But I feel the hood has no functional purpose for me. I'm not going to go walk around with a hood on. I don't like the look of doing so and it would mess up my hair unless I'm wearing a hat underneath. My girlfriend likes to wear a hood in the rain. Ok, that's a functional purpose, but I'm not going to go throw on my expensive Missoni hoodie to wear in the rain. I suppose a hood can help keep the neck warm, but so could a shawl collar. I also see possible negatives with a hoodie in that people can pull on or drop something in the hood. If there's little functional purpose, what it comes down to is style. I think the piece as a whole is stylish, so perhaps the hood works as a casual style. My girlfriend says she doesn't think I dress casual enough for it. She says I never wear t-shirts, which I think is a strange thing for her to say given that I wear henleys about half the time. She seems to think henleys are a step above a t-shirt. I could see myself throwing this over a henley and wearing it on my walks downtown to pick up dinner or go grocery shopping. But it's probably a strange time to start wearing a hoodie after just turning 40. I'm a young 40 -- fit, no kids and no plans to ever have them, living in a downtown LA highrise, 30-year-old girlfriend -- but I don't know for how many more years I won't look 40. Is this thing worth putting all that aside and making it part of my wardrobe for $270? Does a nice hoodie work as a casual style, even if you're not so young anymore? One last thing to consider, it's made in Romania rather than Italy.

I would return it, but I think its just a personal taste question. Could potentially wear it around beach on the cooler windy days if you do that sort of thing. If you haven't worn hoodies in 40 years, probably won't start now.

Who makes good v-neck t-shirts?

Last year I bought v-necks from Express and they are pretty good. Made of something like 90% cotton 10% spandex which is nice for a body hugging fit. They're getting a little weird around the neck so time to re-up. I'm looking for something similar and wondering what y'all prefer.

My favorite T's are from outlier but they're spendy.

Best price:quality is easily wolf vs goat. He makes everything from very high end fabrics and you can pay a 1 time fee of $25 to get everything 50% off for life.

I also really like pistol lake. Their eudae fabric is awesome.

Wolf vs. Goat is the GOAT, but you gotta suffer for it. Dude always has supply issues and delays on drops. That may be changing here soon as he's recently partnered with somebody who will help even out his production.

New WvG crew and v-neck t-shirt drop happening today or tomorrow for rewards members. Pay a one time $25 membership and you get a lifetime of 50% off all purchases and advance access to new stock. Best t-shirts and henleys by a country mile. His sub-reddit is where he posts updates now.

Thanks for the Wolf vs Goat rec. They look nice, worth a try, and they're actually reasonable prices with the membership.

Currently sold out of everything in large. I signed up for the newsletter. How does this work? I see from reddit he has a 'drop' coming soon. If I want to try out a couple of shirts, will I be informed when my sizes come in via newsletter, or do I have to get the membership right now to get in on the coming drop?? Seems like the new inventory is going to go fast...

He's dropping new Micro-modal tees tonight, and bamboo-sorona soon after. Unfortunately the sizing on the shirts is screwy this time, so you'll have to size up (1 for Modal, and 2 for Bamboo) which won't be an issue aside from them being too long and requiring hemming unless you're into that Kanye ****.

Here's the sizing chart for the modal shirts. He posts a size chart on the page for every shirt type, so you can know from that, but he'll take any returns/exchanges so long as you pay return shipping.

This drop will only be rewards members due to the low volume, but future drops are supposed to be more robust. IMO, go ahead and get the membership now. It's 100% worth it. You can try one of the tees (modal or bamboo) to see if you like the style, or just wait until the next drop. He sends out an email to rewards members first, then sends another out for everybody else so you'll get an email heads up on any future drops.

Wore one of my bamboo soronas yesterday in 98* heat. It's pretty amazing how well these wick moisture and reduce odor compared to a standard cotton tee. Equally impressive are the outlier new way shorts, I was completely dry in fairly miserable conditions EDF Fashion (and Fashion Deals) Thread

Most of my clothes I ordered online on Amazon, ASOS and eBay, I like online shopping. Besides I can always find smth for sale. Only once I had some issues with the delivery service 'coz I entered the wrong postal code. Now I try to check carefully postal code here to avoid any issues.
