after looking over the thread i think i tend to like the boots and monkstrap shoes from post 540 and the following few posts. i just dont really know what to wear those kind of things with though, jeans would probably be fine, but darker ones would be ideal and all mine are faded to near white except for one. would it be fine to wear that kind of shoe with jeans that are faded that much? personally i think they would look better with the darker ones but whatever.

im pretty picky about my jeans too, and the only ones i have ever really found that fit me well are levi 505s like i said before, but then again ive only ever bought jeans from JC Penny or walmart (sad i know).

adizzle,

1) Throw out all the jeans you own.
2) ????????????????????????
3) Profit.

Seriously, that is uber trolltastic. Both places sell poorly made, poorly fitting jeans in a variety of heinous shapes and washes. Unless you have an extremely bulbous body, not much will flatter you. If you do, I suggest moomoos.

Monk straps are extremely versatile for dress shoes.

im not saying im proud of it but the levis i have from JC Penny fit really well. at 5-7, 145lbs i dont think that iqualify as having a bulbous body. maybe they just seem good cause i havent worn anything else, but its actually hard to think of them being much more comfortable.

here they are, and theyre damn comfortable

if anyone has suggestions for other things i might like that are better i would like to know.

I'm gonna dispel illusion with my 27th level necromancer.

But really, I don't think that is possible.

I'm sure those are comfortable. I think my dad has a pair that he does yard work in. Of course, when it's warm he wears shorts, loafers and dress socks pulled up to his knees.

Tell us how much would you be willing to spend on a pair of jeans and maybe someone can recommend something.

lol

A lot of the stuff posted in here is going to stick out like a sore thumb in Podunk, Alabama (Thremp's hometown?), so it's up to you to decide whether you want to blend in with everyone, stick out like a sore thumb in a good way, or hedge between the two. I don't hate on any one of the three options; I just dislike it when someone thinks they're in one category but are actually in another.

Jay, I tried on that last jacket in the set you posted, in navy blue. (At least I'm pretty sure it was the same one.) Something was just slightly off; I think it was the fact that you basically had to wear it all the way buttoned up (like in the pic) at all times. It looked weird open and even weirder with only a button or two done.

Yeah. In the great middle chunk of America, dressing anything unlike a ****** will make you stick out. You don't even have to try to be garish. Just not being an idiot will work. Though there is something to be said for attiring for function (khaki shorts/polo shirts/flip flops will always comprise a sizable chunk of my wear)

Anyway I decided to pass, it's something that could be much cheaper in a few months and I think I want to buy a new pair of jeans w/ all the sami & somet talk. I still like it a lot though.

I must be ******ed lately, cause I can't think of what to wear underneath a v-neck sweater.

I usually wear a button up + sweater combo, but lately I've been having the urge just to throw on the sweater and go really casual.

I have bunch of nice sweaters but nothing seems to look "right" underneath them except for the button ups.

Whats the standard here or everyone's thoughts? Should (depending on the color) just rock out a plain black/white/grey t-shirt?

i wear a solid golf shirt underneath my vneck pullover sweaters, and in winter wear bobby jones golf shirts like undershirts because they are so comfortable (egyptian cotton)

that, and probably best to stop using the word "rock" as a verb meaning to wear clothing

I don't think the butts themselves are photoshopped but on closer examination it is very obvious their waists have been adjusted.

i thought it was really obvious that was a photoshop. so - what kind of shoes am i supposed to wear with jeans that aren't dress shoes? sneakers always look bad, i cant wear flip flops in the winter...any suggestions for some versatile shoes I can wear with jeans and most tops?

i know everyone was hating on those grey polo boots, but the first two shots on the top of the post are hawt. maybe they look like **** laced up, but i def think they look decent unlaced and casual.

anyways, thoughts on shoes?

Jos a bank has a 50% off everything sale on 12/15. What do you guys think of their clothes for a young 20's guy. I usually dress sort of preppy I guess and usually wear button downs and khaki's whenever I go out. I'd like to get all of my shirts tailored because most of my jcrew/polo shirts don't really fit my body frame (6ft/155lbs - wide shoulders really small waist).

I'm headed to NY tomorrow. Will be ordering some Tattersal shirts from Geneva. Moleskin trousers from Paul Stauart. Maybe pick up some Shearling Gloves.

What do you guys think about Alden Longwings? I'm thinking of buying a pair of black shoes. Can they be worn casually or are they too formal?

By casually do you mean with jeans? I've realized that polished dress shoes like that just don't work well with jeans. I bought some Paul Smith wingtips this year to wear with jeans and they are probably more jean-friendly than most dress shoes. Yet, I've never worn them. It's the contrast between the polished look of the shoe and the rest of the outfit that never seems to work quite right. It only looks good after the shoes are old and broken in. On the other hand, I bought some Fiorentini and Baker oxfords that have a matte black finish and they are perfect for jeans. N.D.C. also makes casual looking dress shoes that work great with jeans right out of the box. This is an example of a less shiny dress shoe like I'm talking about: http://www.ssense.com/men/product/nd...ze_shoes/15737

If I find the time later, I might take some pics of my F&Bs.

Sounds like a good quick and dirty fix if you can't find alternatives. I've never really been a huge fan of hardcore winter/fall weather due to climate, but I'll need to change that. I'd scour the interwebs for photos of cool looking guys wearing sweaters, pref not guys who are trying to look like h0m0s or otherwise freaks. And if they are, atleast find out why their look looks the way it does.
