I'm in the market for some nice dress boots that I can wear to work (business-casual environment), but the walk to my office will often be fairly treacherous (sidewalks full of snow and ice, minimal plowing, lots of rock salt/dirt). What are some good options that have good traction, can endure getting mucked up a bit, but don't require a daily shining?

JCrew has some ridiculous deals with a 40% off sale going now, plus ebates has an additional 10% off. I got an Italian worsted wool Ludlow suit for $160 plus tax. Inventory keeps disappearing and coming back, though. Typical JCrew games. The Mr Porter sale has also started at 30% off. It will eventually go to 50%, 70% and even 80%, though most of the items will be gone by then.

I've been obsessed with Zegna, Oxxford, and Brioni suits as of late. Found a deal on an Oxxford + Zegna, both NWT for $1,800. Not sure if I'm trying to talk myself out of or into it...

I was watching Steph Curry on the Tonight Show and he has on this sweet jacket ...

So I go looking for it, and I find it. Damn Curry, can't you wear something a little more attainable for us regular folk.

I've decided that these specific Anonymous Ism socks are my favorite for casual wear. I wear them in sneakers and loafers. I find them to be not too thick, not too thin, not too warm, fit snugly but not too tight. I like the colors. Solid, not too flashy but have a little visual texture. Most Anonymous Ism socks are too bulky and long for my tastes. These are just right. After originally getting the green and blue, I got a couple more of each and a gray earlier this year. Notre has an amazing deal on them right now for $8.60 each when you use the code BF30. Shipping is $6.95 unless you get the total over $100, as I just did stocking up on these socks for the future.

Picked up some wolf and goat tees today, 50% off. Best tees I've ever worn or felt, perfect fabric.

I looked at those wolf and goat tees but couldn't find any left in my size. I made one last holiday weekend purchase in this duffel bag from Duluth Pack. As I type this, it still has the 35% off Cyber Monday discount with free shipping, so $282 and $22 extra for the waxed canvas version I got.

Allen Edmonds Long Branch fits the bill perfectly.

You can get 2nds for $150 on shoebank right now or get first on sale for $200, both of which are great deals.

AE has several models that would work there, you can get the higgins mill (which is somewhat sleeker than the long branch but still rugged) with dainite sole, I think you can get the Normandy with a commando sole (though normandy is basically a work boot).

I have a pair of Long Branch and Higgins Mill and they are both fine with jeans/chinos, definitely with tweed trousers, and you can get by with them in something like garbardine or flannel trousers or even in a suit if you have to but I wouldn't wear them to a wedding or an interview.

At the other end of the spectrum you have the Dalton or 5th Street, which both much dressier but I wouldn't wear them in the snow (you can probably get them with a dainite sole but my daltons (leather sole) feel too dainty to wear in the weather IMO).

Slightly off topic, but I keep getting a banner ad on this website for Gamiss clothing. They actually have some good looking stuff, but upon further research it seems like the website is a complete scam. There are a ridiculous amount of reviews stating that people paid and have not yet received anything and it's been weeks.

Hmm, now the Bison leather version of the bag I ordered above is available for the same 35% off. Stick with the waxed canvas or pay $128 more and ask for them to switch my order to this?

I love both of those versions of the duffle. It's so close that if I were deciding for myself I'd save the money and I'm assuming the weight and get the canvas. Can't go wrong either way though.

ETA: A review on Amazon mentions a color transfer issue on the buffalo version so that would tip it for me.

Good looking out. Yeah, the waxed canvas one seems perfect. But then you look at the Bison, and you think it seems so much more expensive for just $128 more.

I read about that. Not sure if I like them enough though since haven't gotten any. I have plenty of t-shirts like that from Banana Republic, Uniqlo and Epaulet that I mostly just lounge in around my apartment. Occasionally I'll wear one under a sweater, but I'm in Los Angeles so undershirts aren't often needed.

AE shoebank with shell cordovan seconds in popular styles like Park Ave and Strand for $325, and $360 for Dalton boots. This is a pretty great deal. Very tempting.

Given your posting history here, I think you'd quite like his stuff even beyond the basic t-shirts. He runs around the world and finds cool fabrics to make clothing (mostly basics) out of. Linen, merino wool, silk/linen, tencel/cashmere, supima/modal, etc. I'm gradually replacing all my tees and henleys with WvG stuff, and his bamboo/sorona shirts are worth the membership fee alone. When I get home from work I immediately shed my oxford and slap on one of his tees. The fit, feel, drape, everything puts it over the top. It's the ultimate lounge shirt that is totally fine to wear out (the cut and drape makes it look more presentable than any other t-shirt I have). As an added bonus, something about these funking things makes renders lint and pet hair un-clingable. Only shirt I have that I don't need to lint roll, and it's the best summer shirt I've come across.

You can also customize the items your order. For example, I bought a tee and requested it be shortened an inch at no extra charge. I haven't tried any of his other stuff, but I've heard nothing but praise about their quality as well.

Last thing, since I know you have a henley thing, he's about to drop some sort of novelty fabric henleys which I'm looking forward to. I can't imagine they'd be anything less than amazing.

Got my 3 wvg tees.

I love the bamboo one (germanicus), amazing fabric and fit.

Don't love the Paolo ones, just standard nice cotton, little heftier I guess. The fit on those was a little boxier too, but thankfully they shrunk enough in the wash. I also got them all 50% off so hard to complain.

I'll purchase in the future, but I'll probably avoid the Paolo fit.

Thanks for the thoughts on WvG. I'll probably just wait till their next 50% off, even if it's next Cyber Monday, and give it a try. I don't feel much need to pay $25 to get that discount sooner. I'm already spending way too much money on things I think I need.
