i just mean there's only one payperview until november, seems odd.

there was none in august?! wtf.

i guess they really are going the way of less but better PPVs
09-13-2017 , 02:35 AM
not really? that's still 6 in 6 months

7 actually because 213 was july 8th
09-13-2017 , 02:49 AM
maybe im misremembering or i was accounting for the UFC on Fox events that were really good, not many of those lately (1 since april?)
09-13-2017 , 03:32 AM
there have been 12-13 numbered PPVs a year for the last 3 years.

hunky rockhold is fighting this weekend

August was May vs Mac.

1 PPV / month sounds about right to me. They get watered down beyond that. Esp since some of the TV cards have been legit (not lately tho).

Yeh I was not excited for Cejudo but it was maybe FOTN. Very impressive to see that standup from a wrestler. Still don't think he has anything for MM tho.

Was hoping co-main was more of a fight. Crazy to think how different MMA might look right now if RDA never got injured.

I love those UFC Embedded vids. Looking forward to that fight now.

Would have been amazing for him to debut that style in a rematch vs Mighty Mouse but I guess he really has to show dramatic improvement to even warrant another fight.
09-13-2017 , 01:48 PM
Cejudo is a beast, the idea he'd be uncompetitive in a rematch with MM was always ridiculous. Bisping was borderline top 10, got schooled by Rockhold and then took him out on two weeks notice. Cejudo is top 3, a much better athlete than Bispiing (Olympic Gold medallist) and much newer to MMA (improving faster). Benadivez should fight the MM-Borg winner, and the winner of that should take on the Cejudo-Pettis winner.
09-13-2017 , 02:09 PM
Sure but Bisping wasn't going to get that fight if it wasn't short notice.
09-13-2017 , 02:16 PM
Correct but if Bisping was able to do so well on short notice perhaps some people shouldn't have derided the idea that a higher ranked fighter such as Cejudo could compete/win when he was coming off a full training camp.
09-13-2017 , 02:50 PM
I hear you, but Bisping is an outlier here. He was a huge dog and got lucky to catch Rockhold clean in a division where that ends the fight.

Cejudo has improved enough that I will be interested in the eventual rematch, but let's not pretend he didn't get completely dismantled by MM. He's got a lot of ground to make up still.

I think I like your matchmaking altho MM v Benavidez 3 isn't getting anyone excited.

Is he tho...?

Snoop - my point was that *given Ray Borg pulled out on two day's notice* and *given the rest of the card was meh and the UFC have had a bunch of recent pullouts*, making MM-Cejudo II even if it required giving Cejudo a little more than you'd ideally like to was the right play (although it sounds like Cejudo wouldn't be keen to take it).

I'm interested in MM-Benavidez although I agree many groans will meet the matchup. They had an extremely competitive split decision first fight, and Benavidez got caught early in the second. 10-2 at FW and 6-0 since their last matchup, it's an excellent fight to make.
09-13-2017 , 03:36 PM
I'm pretty confident MM will move up to face TJ v Cody winner after he breaks the record. Which is why I had no problem with him not wanting to fight TJ on shortish notice with zero financial incentive.

Snoop,

Bisping will be a dog to Rockhold for the rest of his life, but he didn't get lucky with that KO.

I'll grant you that Rockhold helped by underestimating Bisping.

Hard to believe the reason Jones Cormier is even a thing is because Cain Velasquez never fought.

Things like this are why I love DC. Rockhold's pause before responding cracked me up:
