That's what makes it almost ok. But he lucks into an injury vacancy to fight for the belt, binks Rockhold, talks madddd **** to him and every other contender, hand picks Dan Henderson in one of the stupidest title fights ever, then a year later (!) handpicks the ghost of GSP for a cheque and now he wants to ride off into the sunset. **** that.

It's smart management and self-promotion, but he couldn't have done much more to devalue a UFC belt.

*Anyone here know enough to chime in? For all I know Canelo-JCCJr caught the Mexican-American zeitgest and there's much less interest in Canelo-GGG (who has previously put up Mighty Mouse PPV numbers).

Heel Ronda with Edmond as her mouthpiece manager would definitely get me to watch WWE again. Not sure she could throw a believable punch though.

Idk how much ppl have been talking about this but I think Ronda may have been one of the most tragic consequences of USADA

Juice her up and send her to WWE. She can hip toss and arm bar her way to millions.

Ronda lost the desire to fight in MMA well before the Nunes fight. I wouldn't be surprised if all she did was do cardio and hit mitts with Edmond. No hard sparring, no hard grappling, etc.

It was a pure cash grab by someone who was already done with the fight game.

Yeah, amazing how women lose their will to fight when they aren't juiced up...

"Introduction of USADA. On July 1, 2015, the UFC Anti-Doping Program was put into place, ran by the United States Anti-Doping Agency known as "USADA" to protect the rights of all clean athletes in the UFC."

Ronda faught Bethe one Aug 1st 2015 and hasn't looked the same since.

everyone likely kept doping after July 1 2015. She didn't look that good vs Bethe. Bethe just makes everyone look amazing.

Some people are just better at doping than others, likely due to financial resources and access to that good NFL/MLB ****.

Looks like Ronda was tested five times in the 1st two months and her body went to ****.

I don't think anybody has ever come up with this before. The people she was fighting against were just terrible, it was almost all grappling IQ. All it took was a competent striker to derail the train.

This was before Nunez.

Even prior to Holly Holm it appeared Ronda had one foot out the door and the whole UFC grind was breaking her down mentally. Its not steroids or whatever excuse...its that the fighter doesn't want to fight anymore so they are not going to fix anything in their game. PHDs aren't going to change that esp when the majority of them are taken to help with recovery from intense training. Add in terrible coaching and its a recipe for a brutal beatdown vs someone like Nunes.

Ronda prob just did crossfit and cardio and hitting pads with Edmond who told her how amazing she was doing constantly. If she had won somehow I bet she retired afterwards unless UFC offered her insane $$ to do a Holly or Meisha fight

She was doing everything besides training too. She had a very full schedule with product endorsement, movies, and public appearances/interviews. She became much more celebrity than fighter.

Only so many hours in a day.

She let the Holly fight get moved up several months after an injury in the main of that Australian card. It's pretty nuts she wouldn't want a full camp for Holly.

Only in retrospect. Its not that surprising Ronda wouldn't be sweating it, her previous victories had been 34s, 14s, 16s and 66s, she was steamrolling the whole division. It was only Holly's 3rd fight in the UFC, and her entire MMA record was basically nobodies. People weren't really giving her striking much credit (except for full on ONCE IN A LIFETIME TALENT Joe Rogan), they thought she was just more food for Ronda.
09-20-2017 , 07:19 PM
Holly also looked pretty meh in her UFC fights prior to Ronda. She was +700 underdog, at least as big as everyone else besides Bethe who was +1200

I still believe a confident Ronda would win a fight vs Holly more often than not. Holly's ground game is really weak and if Ronda can fight even slightly smart she will get her to the ground (I believe she even did in the first fight?). It was just a perfect night for Holly, and Ronda thought she can stand with her.
