Next up is "I For India".
Could you please link to this top 100 list? I'm having trouble finding one for docs on rottentomatoes.

Edit: Found it, NM:

Retired professor is diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease, goes to Switzerland for assisted suicide. So far it's really sad (I haven't gotten to the deed yet). He doesn't believe in any afterlife, but the pain his disease is causing both himself and his loved ones makes him want to stop. So terrifying and another reminder that we should enjoy every moment o good health we have.

Very brave couple in that program.

It's probably been linked before, but here's Frontline's webpage with their videos, including the one above:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/view/

Pretty much can't go wrong with any of their videos, imo.

One of the more spine-tingling episodes I watched recently was "The Confessions", original airdate 11.9.10:

"Eight men charged. Five confessions. But only one DNA match. Why would four innocent men confess to a brutal crime they didn't commit?

In The Confessions, FRONTLINE producer Ofra Bikel (Innocence Lost, An Ordinary Crime) investigates the conviction of four men -- current and former sailors in the U.S. Navy -- for the rape and murder of a Norfolk, Va., woman in 1997. In the first television interviews with the "Norfolk Four" since their release, Bikel learns of some of the high-pressure police interrogation techniques -- the threat of the death penalty, sleep deprivation, intimidation -- that led each of the men to confess, despite the lack of any evidence linking them to the crime."

I know a lot of people watched Paradise Lost about the West Memphis 3. Two of them will be released from prison tomorrow.

Spoiler:
Thanks, I still think they are not guilty. Admitting to that is ******ed, but I guess if that's what's getting them out of jail, they'll do it.

I'm planning to watch "Lucky" (2010), Marwencol (2010), Bomb it (2008), In the Shadow of the Moon (2007), Monopoly (2008), and Quantum Hoops (2007). I'll give my thoughts after each one.

I watched this one recently. It says a surprising amount about the demographic that is attracted to the lottery.

I watched most of Quantum Hoops. It's about the Cal tech College and their basketball team, how they go on ridiculous losing streaks. I'm enjoying it so far, it reminds my of the one year I played basketball where I didn't get a single basket until halfway through the season. I feel like I could almost qualify for the Cal Tech team.

7.5/10

Finished watching "Lucky". Shows a few lottery winners and how their lives have changed after the win for better or for worse.

If you saw Paradise Lost already, I'd highly recommend watching the follow up sequel "Revelations."

Spoiler:
Also they did not "admit" anything in that deal that got them released, they plead "no contest" which is not the same as "guilty."

Ok, I dont know the nuances of American law, but they are free now and will they have it on their track record? And why do they have to sign a deal? Does it make them ineligible to sue the DA?

Spoiler:
Yes so there were 2 weeks of negotiations that some were willing to insta sign but one wanted to refuse it and go to court... complicated situation considering one (echols?) was on death row and that leverage gave the prosecutors a lot of powers, couples of course w/ the fact that they didn't have to agree to anything... so they remain w/ a murder conviction on their record but the actual plea made was "no contest" -- meaning they resign the fact there is evidence against them (ie. "confession") but they are not pleading guilty and can continue to fight in court for an exoneration. But the DA's office obviously looks awful in this whole situation and wants story to go away, so the deal included things like they cannot sue the PD or any individuals involved in civil court or profit from their story.

Please watch part 2 revelations...such a mind **** I can't stop thinking about and way more complex and confusing, interesting, and tragic than the first IMO. Had me reading and looking into the case to try and figure out whodunnit.

CurrentTV is running a special series counting down the "50 documentaries to see before you die" hosted by Morgan Spurlock, who does interviews with directors and characters. I don't have this channel though, and obviously there's a lot of overlap with other lists like above, anyone watching this? Bunch of short teaser video clips on the site, here:

http://current.com/shows/fifty-documentaries/videos/

The final grouping countdown - 10-1 - will air on August 30th. You can see 50-11 lists from the episodes page.

I'm sure that list won't have any kind of political bias...
