Seems like the bigger the fight is the more the fighters can get away with. Probably terrified of the backlash they'd get for having a major impact on the fight. Not just from fans but probably the UFC as well. I mean look at how Dana treated Mazzagati after the Lesnar/Mir fight.

I predicted before the fight that there would be a controversial stand up from Herb Dean. It turned out that Conor was allowed to do whatever he wanted to avoid being taken down.

Poirier out with an injury, no word if Diaz gets another match up.

DC vs Lewis is the new headliner at UFC 230. Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiet.

Kinda surprised he's been cleared to fight less than a month after his last fight. I wonder how many miles he'll log on the treadmill in the next couple of weeks.

every fight i see of derrick lewis, he spends >98% of the time standing there eating punches breathing all heavy doing nothing, then he eventually touches the guy and he goes to sleep and derrick looks like he's going to fall over and die of exhaustion

he doesn't seem like much of a (potential) champion to me. epic finish the other night tho for sure

I think it boils down to this. The interview went viral and Lewis is a mediocre fighter on a heater who will be irrelevant soon so they just want to capitalize now.

I thought he broke his eye against Volkov too

lewis is not a mediocre fighter, but they are obviously capitalizing on the post fight interview heat. he gained 500k new followers on instagram alone last weekend. not counting the youtube, twitter, and facebook views.

right now, this fight does better business than Lesnar easily and if DC takes him out (as he should), Brock will still be there for him.

I can just see the MMA gods trolling us by letting Lewis catch DC with a haymaker and knock him out. That would be brutal for multiple reasons and I'd legit feel sad for DC.

the sonnen frontflip lmao

man what a ****ing meme that should become.

I'll be shocked if it cracks 400k.

also he got like 750k extra followers in large part because JR told the world he had the best instagram account ever right as he was having his viral moment.
It's basically an amplified version of the JRE bump due to the perfect storm of the elevated media attention/PPV buys + epic comeback win + funny viral post fight interview.

UFC will likely squander it like they always do when Cormier wrestle ****s him for 5 rounds in 3 weeks tho.

It can work, but probably not a great idea against a heavyweight.

Also, Lewis is definitely a mediocre fighter. His ground game is "just stand up", and his striking technique is little more than throw the right hand until it ends the fight. He's only at the top of the division because the HW talent pool is so shallow. Regardless, the man is a national treasure:

The 7 PPV Lesnar has been on have an average buy rate of 1,079,000
I'll give you 2-1 230 doesn't beat that since you are sooo confident in BB 15 minutes of fame.

Also will give you 2-1 that UFC 230 doesn't out do whatever UFC Brock/DC may end up fighting on.

If I had to guess what UFC230 likely does it would be in the 350-425K range with 500K+ being a smash success.

Chael didn't really even have the right setup for it as he had a loose bear hug grip on Fedor and didn't seem to have much pressure on the head of Fedor.

"***** just stand up and walk away" hahahahhaha, he still aint doin' 1 mill ppvs doe
10-15-2018 , 09:29 PM
What crack are you smoking that anyone at heavyweight outsells Brock?
10-15-2018 , 10:23 PM
yea i take it back

An interesting bet would be what does more buys

Lesnar vs DC at HW with DC having belt
JBJ vs DC 3 at LHW with both having belts

I think it would be pretty close
10-17-2018 , 12:19 AM
I think DC/Brock does around 1.25 and DC/Jones does around 800k.
