Pulled the trigger on the Herman Miller Setu chair....can't believe I just paid $600+ for a freaking chair.

lol I mispoke =)

A standing desk would be fine if I was only at it for an hour or so at a time. A lying down setup I would probably have low energy and be tired most of the day.

I'm really curious about the Setu, post some feedback and pics after you get it.

Basically wondering what it is like to work from a reclined zero-g chair for extended periods.

Here is a video of a crazy ergoquest one. I think it's really only useable in the zero-g chair though, because I can't imagine the keyboard tray not drifting if you tried to stand and work.

beaucoupfish has a perfect chair setup. pretty sure he posted pics in this thread somewhere.

PerfectChair (I have severe back pain, and even with this chair I am time-limited in sitting - but no traditional upright chair would allow me to sit for any length of time). I fabricated the "desks" from two Ikea desk stands, added a couple of light shelves, and a support bar between them so the monitors wouldn't topple the whole thing over.

And yes, I got the idea from the Stephen Hawkin pic from the balla setups thread! (or is that in this thread?)

I know a couple of code monkeys that have setups like this in the office, but A) I don't go into the office much and B) I'm scared to talk to them.

Anyone have experience with any of these chairs from Promania.de? They look pretty comfortable, and I've seen them recommended on another forum.

^ That's a gorgeous chair.

I bought a Steelcase Uno and I love it. It's nice because it's very simple yet very comfortable and not overbearingly so. Oh and it's one of the few awesome task chairs that is only ~$300.

Here's a pic of it:

Hey guys,

I just visited the Herman Miller agent here in Malta and found the Embody (fkn brilliant chair) for €1215 which will take 6 weeks to arrive or I can take the showroom model for €1155. Opinions? Are there any deals to be had or does the price seem pretty standard? I dont mind getting one shipped over from somewhere in europe if someone has found a good source..

Much thanks..

MBN, The value lover in me would definitely buy used.

Bought a steelcase leap and really love it, cannot believe I waited so long to spoil myself! Now Im kind of interested in setting them up with the desk/monitors to reduce body/eyestrain. Any good links or tips?

Hey Scotty,

I just picked up my embody today, absolutely brilliant chair once set to your body. What I would suggest doing if like me you spend hundreds of hours playing hundreds of thousands of hands is:

Set the chair so it is absolutely best for your body while away from your desk, then adjust the desk accordingly, there are plenty of bits out there to raise your desk. You will probably need to adjust your monitor height to reduce any strain on the neck and eyes. I am picking up a monitor mount kit and will mount my 3 screens and at the right height on the wall, I need to lift them about 2" and having them standing on the desk is not an option (It will tilt me)

Best of luck mate

Picked up a Markus chair from Ikea (one of the orange, wool based ones with rubber topped arms, rather than the leather - mainly because my cat tears the leather ones to bits as he did with my current one). Hopin' it is good!

A week into getting my Embody and I am loving it, still adjusting it though to get it just right..

Anyone here who also have the Embody feel the lump in their back when they sit badly and dont lean back? Its pretty neat and makes me sit properly but im just not sure its meant to be that way

Hey - new to the chair thread here but just buying a whole new poker setup from scratch for my new pad.

The problem I have is matching the desk to the chair - often I get a nice chair and a nice desk but the arms won't go under the desk...sounds trivial but is a massive pain and I end up setting at odd angles with extreme neck/back ache.

Have any of you got a chair that is made for someone with a lower back? Old sports injury so mine gives me problems from time to time. I'm thinking about the embody or maybe some other herman miller chair.. do you guys feel the chair is worth the money as far as it being better on your back?
