Party Poker players club scam++

They had a thing where if you deposited $500, you would get 1000 points. So players with decent bankrolls could just deposit $500 over and over again, then withdraw it all at the end of the week to pile up party points and get into their highest class of players (which means you earn points faster, get other rewards). Was very easy to earn a free iPod a month just solely based on the players club points. This loophole was open for at least a year.

I must not have been the only person who did this.

so i started playing on paradise back in 99. i played sngs. they only had limit sngs back then. it took a few years before the nl sngs showed up.

also, davidross definitely needs mention. he was one of the first to multitable for a living (3-6 lhe) and the first to meticulously document it. he inspired tons of others to "go pro."

Also, for history of the term "donk bet"....

I made the term "gay bet" up to describe when an opponent bet into a preflop raiser in limit hold 'em in a situation that seemed illogical. This term was used for a while, but bleeding hearts on 2p2 got upset about the offensiveness of the term and ACTUALLY VOTED on what the term should be called instead. Thus, Donk Bet was born! This will wind up being my biggest contribution to poker.

Also, whatever year BBV was introduced to 2p2 is a huge moment in the history of this site...not many people seem to remember, but you used to get railed on if you posted about your winrates/results in a bragging way. You were looked at as a total loser if you complained about bad streaks or bad beats. When someone posted a bad beat people would actually say, "Post this in the bad beat forum instead," the joke being that a bad beat forum would be so lame that 2p2 would never have one. At some point 2p2 became less about respecting people's ideas and more about respecting the stakes they play or the results.

haha both good posts James. I forgot about the gay bet vote which I think was held in the old SH forum before it split into MHSH and SSSH. We also lost the greatest gimmick account of all time with that split I think as I don't think aggroHUSH poster or whater his name was ever posted after that. Anybody want to take credit for that gimmick?

The introduction of BBV was definitely a defining moment in the history of the site.

How about 2p2's davidross who was the first pro to document his experiences with a long post every Sunday(?) about his week's experiences. He was a family man who quit his job to play limit. He definitely inspired me that playing professionally was possible. This was in 2003? He stopped after 1 year exactly. Still see davidross on party at mid-stakes NL.

i think Baronzeus should be included in the notable 2p2er section. he is one of the first guys i remember posting some big brags in BBV. pretty sure this was around the time the big UB games started to run.

i tried to find it in the archives, but i suck at searching. i think it was something involving a prop bet where nick rainey would play tennis v. baronzeus and nick rainey would only use his hand and not a racket. baronzeus accepted, then realized he had no shot of winning backed out. seriously, don't quote me on that because it was a long time ago, but i know it earned him the custom under title of "Stanford Welshing Pigeon," or something to that effect.
