Sounds like a good idea.

My memory is sucking more and more. I looked for the celebration thread where you share your mad BJ skills but I couldn't find it.

Jan 2006, the introduction of 20/40 6max tables was a big deal at the time for the mid limit SHed people (I think this was also when party made short handed tables for all limits)

More needs to be said about the 15-30 limit game on party. It was the first time a bunch of people were making really serious money. Inevitably, some jackass would make a post in the limit forum saying that the 15-30 game was super soft, which would cause more and more 2p2ers to join. Seriously, there must have been 10 different posts talking about how soft those games were. I also think that was when people starting holding back with strategy posts and started getting into private discussions instead.

I started online with play money tables on Planet. It had sound effects that could be triggered from chat, <loo> made a flushing sound, <tyvm> triggered Elvis 'thankyouverymuch' etc. I still wear my Planet t-shirt earned with my first real money points.

My first experience in online poker was on pokerpages. First I was playing with play money and then opened a money account for $50 . Not sure when they opened their money tables. I believe they were before Paradise though because I remember switching over when it opened.

hell of a walk down memory lane - I remember Paradise being my big site, and then one day Dave and a dealer at Canterbury (now at the Wynn) were talking about Pokerstars. the site was running freeroll MTT's and had yet to start real tournaments - I believe their site had the first two WSOP seat satellites that year before Moneymaker. You got entry into them thru FPP's.

There should probably be an entry for the first MTT's - prior to PS I don't remember any - (though I'm sure there were cause Dutch tried to trademark the concept, dickhead)

and may something about the first million dollar prize pool online and the largest online tournament in history - (forget which PS one that was)

I made my first online deposit on UB back in early 2003 and I'm sure they had an 80/160 game running at that point which should have been the biggest online.

seeing as this is heavily slanted towards 2+2 phenomena, you gotta include fossilman winning the main event. that was a huge day for 2+2.

sweet thread btw, i remember 90% of this stuff. so cool.

Tommy Angelo and Shania have to be mentioned somewhere, especially if we are including 2+2 specific stuff

2001 (I think) - Mark Leah slimmouse first online WSOP qualifier through PokerPages. Notable player back then was Angelina and her "busted" list

Highlands poker going down and Doyle making good should be on there somewhere

2004 must have UB/Party/Stars start hosting live WPT events

At some point, in the very early days, your "bonus" on paradise was earning back the fee for depositing (5%?)

If anyone is really serious about this, look through the forum archives (esp. internet gambling).

I was looking through the archives and it was really funny. More than half the posts were about online poker being rigged. One guys "proof" was a sample of 500 hands where he analyzed whether the flop had a potential flush draw or not ("action flops"). I think his figures were off 2% from expected, so he concluded that it was rigged.

Another post asked about the strategy differences between online and live poker. Op said "I heard that in online poker if you flop trips you always check".

I found this pretty entertaining, maybe just me.

The Paradise bonus thing was that way in late 2001 I believe. That's when I made my first online deposit. Can't believe it's been 6.5 years.

You need to include the date that Party went public (mid 2005), its apex in late 2005 at 175 ish, how much Dik**** cashed out and the failed attempts by Harrah's to do online gaming in 2000 http://www.winneronline.com/articles...rahsdotcom.htm

There are some estimates of online gaming participation at pokerpulse.com http://www.pokerpulse.com/currentCL.php

Also, there are other publicly traded online gaming companies.

• Cryptologic (CRYP) • Dynasty Gaming (DNY.V) • Electronic Arts (ERTS) • GigaMedia (GIGM) • Ladbrokes PLC (LAD.L) • NetEase.com Inc (NTES) • Neteller (NLR.L) • PartyGaming (PRTY.L) • Playtech (PTEC.L) • Perfect World (PWRD) • Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited (SNDA) • Silverbirch Studios (SVB.V) • Sportingbet PLC (SBT.L) • The9 Limited (NCTY) • Webzen (WZEN) • WorldSpreads (WSPR.L) • 888.com ( 888.L)

Think you are recalling Samoleus - he claimed to have made 4M or 6M I think and it blew minds and set off lots of ridicule. Even now it seems hard to calculate at those limits (mostly 10/20), and prob was exaggerated but that might have been pre-PT.

The only major Prahlad posting I remember was when he accused Brandon Adams of 'ridan dirty' lol. That was followed by HU 4 ROLLZ threats.

Even if you're new to 2+2 there really is a rich, rich history here. I wish their archives worked better b/c there's some killer stuff from the old version of the site that is hard to search for (back when durrr and alex jacobs and other young guys were coming up and posting a lot).

You can literally surf through the old stuff for hours and if you're lucky you'll find the legendary Grimstarr busto thread
