Irieguy, that's a good idea but PokerStars won't let me. They won't give you the time of day unless you make a permanent (3+ month) move. One month really wouldn't be enough time anyway; it's going to take me a few days to get settled in, a few more days (up to a week) for Stars and Party Poker to approve my account, etc. I played full time for three months in 2010 when I was in between my current job and my old one so I have an idea of what it's like to rely on poker as my only source of income. I'm definitely going to whatever I can to keep my current position available to me should I need to return.

Doing a thing called "WWOOF" atm, it's international, mingling with a totally new community, meeting great people and singing around bomb fires and that stuff whilst working with a bee keeper, anyone who has little money and wants to travel check it out for sure, google it

Basically, one gets a book with a bunch of descriptions of people and the person chooses a host to stay with. The host supplies food/accommodation in exchange for work. The one I'm with atm knows many people and I'm mingling with many locals, who of which happen to like having jam sessions with bomb fires going, it's pretty awesome =D

So an update, haven't done one of these for a while.

Although writing this thread was great, as far as trying to write a book it couldn't have come at a worse time. And owning and running a bar for four years took 99% of my energy, focus, and attention. What little I had left over I tried to spend on the book, but it was haphazard and blundering at best. To add to that I met the woman of my dreams and got married as well, and then we deserted Italy and moved back to Perth where I had to dig deep to get us on a good financial grounding.

This has been done, and the good wife has the high paying corporate job now, which she has always wanted. So we had a long talk and we decided that now is the time for me to give this book my best shot. I've quit my job and for the past two weeks I've been writing full time. I'm averaging about 1000 words a day that are worthy of retaining. The book is powering on and I'm working with a new editor who fits my style a bit more.

It's still hard to write; I have to force myself to sit down and do it every day. But I just finished today's slog, and I was rereading this thread for a bit of inspiration, (and to see if I'd forgotten any parts), and I thought I'd give an update. And if any old school 2+2ers are in Perth, I'd be happy to meet up for a drink, just let me know.

Book update: hit the 100,000 word mark the other day. It's probably going to blow out to around 120,000 words, but that'll be pared back to 85 - 90K I would expect. The writing is going well. Doing it full time means I have a good grove going, which is a satisfying experience.
