So how does this beer on tap at work thing work? Are people hanging out after work for a pint or two? Just having a beer at random times throughout the day? How many days a week on average?

this year's lagunitas born yesterday is absurdly good.

Also it's Celebration season which is always a good time. $15 for a 12 pack, can't go wrong.

I think I'm completely done with IPAs >=10% ABV. I can't remember the last time I've had one that didn't taste disgustingly boozy.

Thanks to everyone that mentioned 18th Street. Picked some up when I was in Indiana earlier this week. Just the best ipas. Drinking Sex and Candy right now, my new favorite beer.

After ~4pm or so it becomes acceptable to have a drink. Sometimes people stay late to have a couple beers with coworkers, sometimes they just have a beer while working later in the day. I personally partake pretty rarely but I like making sure we have great beer for people to drink (also on tap at the moment: Alpine Nelson, Boneyard RPM, La Fin du Monde).

What type of budget do they give you for this little tap setup? That is a good tap list for a little 4 tap bar, much less an office.

18th Street is fantastic. I had “Nickle” which was a fantastic NEIPA and their BA Hunter which was also incredible. My local Mexican joint has 2015 Apple Brandy Noir for $14....

La Marg? Did they get more, thought I saw they ran out a month or 2 ago. Never did make it down there for one.

Are you an IBTD member by chance?

goofy,

That really is a sick office tap list. I'd be very happy to see those four taps at any bar!

Tried Shaken at Mikkeller. Did not like. Actually, I saw it and ordered it, then the bartender was like uh, you don't want that. He went and grabbed me a taste, and it was just over-the-top lactose creaminess, weird mouthfeel. Tasted very out of balance. Had a couple other IPAs, they were fine. Had Mikkeller raspberry and pineapple berliner weisses, damn were they good.

Also to everyone talking about Born Yesterday, thx for the recs - I agree completely, it's great!

Had a BBA day while watching the amazing Michigan State Spartans get their colons abused.

Dragons milk mocha mint was a surprisingly good varient. One of my favorite dragons milks.

Oddside sweet potato soufflé was sickeningly sweet and awful. I can’t even fathom how people can drink this.

Oddside the night man leaveth was my favorite of the evening followed by

Black note. A bba from bells that really delivers. Bit short on barrel for me but I really like it.

My wife worked at a couple companies that allowed drinking throughout the day. One of them had a couple rotating kegs and the other just stocked a fridge with bottled/canned beer. She said people were generally pretty good about not abusing it, don't drink before 1130-12, keep your daily consumption to a couple drinks etc.

I'm glad I don't work at a place that has beer on tap. Even if there was a very well understood don't drink before 4pm rule, I feel like that would sap my energy for evening runs/workouts.

That 4 tap list is pretty damn good, though VSS is hands down the best Speedway variant. Nelson is so great, it really annoys me that with the Alpine buy out we get a bunch of Duet and Windows Up (which I like a lot, don't get me wrong) but no bottles of Nelson. I'll pay $15/6 for that ****, send it out here to Wisconsin.

I wanted to also chime on on this year's batch of Born Yesterday. I don't know if it has always just been this good and I was skeptical because the hop game is improving so much each year, but I got a 6 pack a couple of weeks back and it was really good. It's also like $11/6pack, which in today's age is pretty cheap for a high tier IPA.

The top tier west coast IPAs are really, really excellent - I'm thinking of Alpine's stuff (Duet/Nelson/Windows Up) and Born Yesterday. But there's a lot of driftwood there, too.

Not familiar with IBTD. Yes at La Marg. They had a great list as of Friday with Noir available.

This year's born yesterday is prob better than every hyped NEIPA out there right now. It's maybe my fave IPA I've had this year.

KC. Have you had NEBCOs Fuzzy Baby Ducks recently? Cause if you did and still have that opinion you’re wrong.

Yeah, Born Yesterday is very good, but I've got 2-3 IPAs in my fridge that crush it, including:

Powdered Dreams from 18th St. Absolutely incredible NE DIPA. Reminds me a lot of Boss Tweed with its slight sweetness.

has it gotten better recently or something? I love NEBCO, partly because it was kind of my gateway-brewery, but always liked their other beers like Locust Reign way more. Have you tried Counter Weight? I think they've been brewing better stuff than NEBCO since they opened and the beers the last few weeks (the former Cold Creek head brewer joined CW about a month ago) have been the best IPAs I've had in CT (haven't been to Fat Orange Cat though).

re:Born Yesterday, I thought it was great last year but it fell off super fast. Two weeks after I got it was a total snowglobe and had lost a lot of what made it delicious.

It’s my understanding that Counter Weight was started by a brewer from NEBCO (blanking on his name). I’ve only had Headway from them as it’s pretty widely distributed in CT and is awesome. Still need to make a trip down to Hamden.

Cold Creek was doing some good things (Winnie was/is fantastic) but will be interesting to see that their main brewer left to go to CW.

It’s getting colder out now so hopefully we get some Stout Trooper from NEBCO soon.
I’d say we have a plethora of riches on the 84/91 corridor.

Yeah, Matt was the head brewer and actually part owner of NEBCO. Rob started it in ~1990, think Matt joined in mid 00's and created all the East Coast style brews they're known for (gandhi, fbd, locust etc).

I never pass on headway when I see it as $10 for that 4 pack is dumb cheap but the brewery stuff is on a different level. The double galaxy DIPA they put out two weeks ago blew away all the Trillium in my fridge and was $15 vs $22 for the equivalent beer.
