Picked up Green Zebra, a watermelon gose from Founders. Sweet and very drinkable. The watermelon isn't strong at all. Looks like it's widely distributed, not sure though.

I had a NEIPA collab from 18th Street and Transient called Zero Discipline that was fantastic. My 2 favorites in the area.

Beer lovers,

We're living in good times

6 and 17 were the big winners.

And all these fieldwork beers this weekend were great:

Picked up a couple the other day and agree with the drinkable part. Excellent summer beer.

Traded with malices attorney for this guy. Awesome beer. Pours like motor oil, lots of cinnamon and nutmeg. Can't believe this is 14.5%.

This beer followed by a Stanhope show= pretty great evening.

I just recently moved to Seattle and tried the 2015 version of this beer. Pretty damn good, but before I also had their Brew 2000 (big barleywine) and some bourbon barrel aged coffee stout. Both great beers on their own. I have yet to try any of Fremont's pedestrian beers though.

I really like the spice wars variation, but you can't go wrong with any of them.

Couple of friends stopped by after the show so I broke out the other fremonts as well as a saison collab between gigantic and jolly pumpkin and the first 120 I've had.

Consensus on the fremonts was coffee>regular>spice wars. All amazing.

The 120 was A+. I've heard from a lot of people that didn't care for it, but i thought it was excellent.

The "Phuket ; it's not that far from laos" decent but a little bland. That of course could be due to the fact we just drank 4 super high abv flavor bombs and were hammered.

Going to a BBA bottle release party today, then probably to rehab on Monday.

Glad they were a hit, and glad you got to the coffee sooner rather than later, most say that's the flavor that fades quickest in those so it's best not to age them much if you really want the coffee flavor to come through.

El Diablo,

Daisy Cutter gets fairly overrated outside of Chicago area. Within Chicago I think it is justly liked as like, a good local IPA that is on draught basically everywhere. Sort of similar to Sculpin in terms of stature if not quality. Good to exist and raise the bar of sort of generic-ish IPA for lists, not spectacular.

The Double Daisy Cutter seems to be getting much more widely available now at least in Chicago and is significantly enough different that I'd give it a shot. The Galactic Double Daisy Cutter is kind of a different beast entirely and is one of my favorite IPAs.

On that note - heading back to Chicago for the first time in years, anything special to look out for? Last time I got a lot of Revolution (which is now pretty generally available by me so don't care so much), Daisy Cutter, and Zombie Dust.

Haul from the bottle release. Witches hat traxxx night fury and 6 different bba varieties of night fury.

I tried the traxxx, cookies and cream, double barrel, and rye whisky. All super tasty, traxxx is the star of the group though it's like beer peanut butter cups. Excited to finally get my hand on some bottles of this stuff.

It was a bit odd having a festival based around stouts in august. Luckily it was quite cool on Saturday.

So we've recently had plenty of US beers on in Bristol. Other Half (Simcoe IPA, All Everything Citra) slightly disappointed me: the latter was a great beer, the former good, but Cloudwater and DEYA are better IPA brewers: didn't live up to the hype.

Lost Abbey were top notch. Red Poppy was my favourite: really interesting take on a Flanders red. Avant Garde was delightfully creamy for its style and Judgement Day was an exceptional quad.

Almanac, also awesome. We've only had sours in, I won't describe individually, but:
De Brettaville Lavender and Honey 4.25
De Brettaville Apricot 4
Farmers Reserve Blackberry 4.25
Farmers Reserve Grand Cru 4.5
Hoppy Sour Azacca 3.75.

Off to Beavertown Extravaganza soon too, which I daresay is possibly the best beer fest this year in the world.

TDA,

From Almanac, keep an eye out for these three recent beers (no idea re: production/distribution, so maybe these won't make it far) Tropical Galaxy, Summer in the City, and Vanilla Cherry Dogpatch.

A guy in a beer trading group I'm in is setting this up for the group - http://tenemu.com/news/prairie-offer...l-beer/08/2017

He's picking it up and delivering it out here and organizing it all so is asking for $15 bottle, I bought one, should be fun. Marshmallow, vanilla and chocolate are the adjuncts they chose for this one.

What are you having - Beer or Cake?

Asking this here instead of the SF thread because I think I'll have more luck.

Is Harmonic worth checking out? I never see it mentioned here or elsewhere and that doesn't seem like a great sign.

Mitch,

I like their beer better than Triple Voodoo and Magnolia in the Dogpatch. When I'm over there, I like going to Harmonic, but it's not a place I'd make a special trip to. Everything I've had there is pretty good, but nothing is really exceptional. But it's a really cool space, really chill vibe, definitely a place I enjoy going to.

Looking at the list now. http://harmonicbrewing.com/beers/

I think these were the ones I liked best:

CANTALOOP PALE ALE / 5.5% ABV
Refreshing w/ notes of melon & lime – El Dorado, Calypso, Pacific Gem hops - 38 IBU + dry hopped

OUT ON THE TILES IPA / 7.0% ABV
Mango, guava, blueberry notes – 100% Mosaic hops (60 IBU)

NEON SHADES HOPPY KETTLE-SOUR / 6.6% ABV
Juicy interplay with lactobacillus and Citra & Mosaic hops

THE JAM (KETTLE-SOUR) / 6.2% ABV
Dark, malty ale soured with lactobacillus – tart raspberry addition

I live a couple blocks from Cellarmaker, and most weekends I'm over in the East Bay near Fieldwork, so it's really hard for me to get all that excited about too many other taprooms...

Thanks for this. We might check it out, will see how the day goes.

I'm with you though. A huge % of what I wind up drinking is Cellarmaker, since its great, parking is easy and I can hit City Beer to supplement other stuff at the same time.

Fieldwork opening in San Mateo has also been great for me, since its near where I golf and I can avoid the traffic mess of Berkley.

The lack of great beer bars or stores is really one drawback of being in the Marina. Im pretty surprised someone hasn't tried to open one.

Mitch,

Wrt other Bay Area taprooms, Almanac (Mission) and rare barrel (Berkeley) are great if you like sours.

I like them, and we have them permanently on tap at our office downtown. The Old-Fashioned Pale Ale is a cool take on the style, they have a couple really great IPAs (El D mentioned Out on the Tiles, additionally we like King for a Day even more which is a newer one, we get it at the office whenever we can), and their kettle sours are generally nice too. They also have a nice space with a couple big TVs, it's not a bad place to check out a game. I'd go there more if I lived closer.

Oh wow, we're close (I'm in Cow Hollow). And yeah, it's weird how this is a dead zone of craft beer spots. Liquid Gold is my favorite place nearby-ish to get beers.
