In addition to that, black circle has had a few, and the head brewer at Rock Bottom downtown has had a few killer NEIPAs. Maui Wowie the most recent.

Bare Hands from Granger distributes here are their Joe England and Mom and Dad have both been good.

Wasn’t aware of these! Definitely my fault then. Are the 450 North cans brewery only or are you finding them at a store? I’m headed to Portland Maine in 2 weeks and brining an empty suitcase for beer only. Can’t wait! Thanks for the heads up Bode.

Most are brewery only, but some see limited distro. They are releasing a pineapple milkshake IPA tomorrow I'm hoping to get a few cans of.

how else am I supposed to get a 16oz can into a 16oz glass? I'm usually an aggressive pourer, but NEIPAs seems to dissipate quickly.

Bode,

Don’t pour the whole can in all at once?

Use a bigger glass.

Bad pic - but you can get the general idea from it. Had this sent to me a couple days ago. Both glasses have ~16 oz. Aggressive pouring is better anyway - beers are meant to have a head!

Hey, one of my favorites.

That DDH ripe Keg is currently 40 days old, hopefully it still tasted fresh, was definitely amazing when first tapped.

I've been drinking Grey Monday for years and found the hazelnut addition to Black Tuesday to be more subtle and rich in that beer, but here it's nutty like Rocky Road. So, if you're into that, I'd expect you'd like this beer a lot. I didn't get a lot of maple flavor, not sure in what form that was supposed to be imparted ("maple bourbon barrel aged" is kind of ambiguous).
lol, taste is a weird thing. I just went to Cellarmaker for a couple of beers and had a completely different reaction. HUGE maple sweetness and bourbon character in that beer for me, kinda reminds me of BCS with a ton of maple. Didn't really get any hazelnut/Nutella flavor. Very rich, I get what you're saying about the rocky road flavor, super big/sweet/rich flavor. Liked it quite a bit, but 7oz was a lot.

Actually drank half, then got one of these:

Kel's Birthday Cask
Cask Conditioned Porter / 8 % ABV / 45 IBU
“Coffee & Cigarettes”

On Vive La Tart Cheesecake,

Graham Crackers, Blueberries

& Vanilla!
which was like coffee and cigarettes with some blueberry notes. Tasted super refreshing and nicely bitter compared to the Evil Spread.

Then after that finished off the rest of the Evil Spread.

I'm in Seattle for a short work trip. I arrived yesterday, and I was scheduled to head to Fremont Brewery with a colleague before dinner last night, but my connection through Chicago got dorked up and I got here late last night. Super disappointed - Fremont makes some absolutely fantastic beers and I was looking forward to trying some at the source.

The only plus side is that i had to give a presentation today, and if something like Barrel-Aged Dark Star or Barrel-Aged Abominable had been on tap, I'd be very hungover.

The convenience store across the street from my hotel has Barrel-Aged Abominable just sitting in the cooler like it's no big thing. Seattle seems pretty ok.

I was actually at Fremont today after work. I walked out without ordering after seeing the draft list. If you're staying in the Fremont area, I would highly recommend Brouwer's Cafe for a wide variety of styles and brewers (knowing your previous posts, ask for their bottle list). And if you stop there, Outlander Brewing around the corner may be worth a stop current tap list (actually wishing I stopped there tonight now that I see that list).

Would be glad to provide some recs depending on where you're staying. Regardless, here's a google sheets I found with some general info about Seattle beer if you want to check it out:

I'm staying at the Watertown Hotel, but I'm headed out this morning. Short trip to the business school.

Last night we want to a place that was identified as the worst local brewery. I don't recall the name, but it was within walking distance. The IPA was totally fine - if this is the worst Seattle has to offer, you're in good shape.

Dinner last night was fantastic. We went to Mkt. where I had a really well-prepared steak. Not a great beer list, so I tried a Boulevardier for the first time. Delicious.

It's a shame that my trip is so short. But I do plan on coming back to Seattle next January, hopefully for longer. The plan is to set up some kind of brewery tour - the two definite places seemed to be Fremont and Holy Mountain.

I’m in Seattle until Monday and I’d love some recs. I was going to go to Fremont last night but apparently they close at 10 which seems odd to me.

I’m staying downtown but don’t mind traveling.

Downtown (or downtownish):
- Cloudburst is the best brewery in the downtown area imo, known for their IPAs but make great beers across the board.
- Holy Mountain is just a little outside the downtown, but well known and great beers. They released 3 new beers yesterday, so it should be a solid tap list.
- The Masonry is a pizza and beer spot that is close. They often have one of the best bottle and draft lists, getting rare stuff that I don't see often in this area. For example, cracking a Cantillion Rose de Gambrinus keg for NYE.
- Teku Tavern another solid beer bar with a wide variety of taps and bottles.
- Downtown Spirits is a nearby bottle shop with good selection if you're looking to take some home.

If you end up going to Holy Mountain, Urban Family is nearby has some really good sours and hops. But Urban Family is pretty much Ballard area... so

If you head to Ballard/Fremont area, Ruebens + Stoup are two solid breweries a couple blocks from each other. Then the recs above for Fremont area, Fremont, Brouwer's, Outlander.

If you end up in Capitol Hill, I would probably only recommend The Pine Box and Chucks Hop Shop.

Heh, wow, yeah, that's crazy. It's like we were drinking two different beers. Maybe my taste buds were in a weird state at that point after the stuff I drank at City Beer Store.

I went to Triple Voodoo last night for their anniversary party, imperial mocha shake was as promised. They also had chardonnay barrel aged Inception (Belgian golden ale) which was pretty solid. Also got rye barrel aged Shadow Boxing, was pretty good but I recall enjoying it more the last time I had it a couple years ago, could be a barrel thing as I believe that version was bourbon barrel aged.

I've never been into cask beers, the temperature/carbonation always makes it seem so weird - did that affect your impression of the Cellarmaker one at all?

Goofy,

Hmmmm I’m gonna be in dogpatch today. Might have to stop by TV again...

In general I agree with you re: cask beers. Can’t really say too much what it did for this one, I just really needed the lighter bitter coffee break after being overwhelmed with 15% sweetness.

Local brewery beers fine but nothing special.

You know what I think every time I have a classic Belgian Golden? "Man, this could really use coffee, whiskey, and oak in it!" Nice of them to warn it picked up some diac though.

Rdh,

The only beer I thought was really good was the first one. But damn the tartine teacakes were great!

This was Friday night between 5 of us and there's about 8 other beers that aren't pictured. It was definitely excessive as it gets to a point where you're drinking really good beer for no reason as your plenty ****faced as it is.

But the standouts from those I remember were Green, Blueberry Super Soak, Hudson Valley Babylon, and Other Half 4th Anniversary ipa.

The CBS and Prarie Bomb didn't come close to the OH Hypersleep with vanilla and peanuts that I had last week. That may well be one of the best stouts I've ever had

In Philly this weekend and did Tired Hands. I have to say, was pretty impressed. Got some Extra Vanilla Milkshake IPA that I figured would be too sweet for me but super well balanced and amazing mouthfeel. Had a few of their other IPA offerings which were very solid. Also their stout Ladyfinger was one of the best non-barrel aged stouts I’ve ever had. Think I remember them getting mixed reviews ITT.

Sick lineup in the post above. What did you think of the Equilibrium? I haven’t had that particular one, but I had a Vulgar Display of Flower recently that was a top 5 IPA ever for me.
