Any Bay Area people checking out the Bissell Brothers event at City Beer? I am tempted but the last thing I need now is more beer.

Sucks you didn’t like the triple spider. I’ve had the big bad Baptista this year and I️ loved it. I’m a sucker for cinnamon and adjuncts though. I’ve got a couple bottles of the triple but haven’t cracked one yet.

Went to the new founders taproom to get my ticketed CBS.

CBS, KBS, and then had a barrel aged Sumatra brown. 8oz pours. 7$ a piece.

I think this is the Publick House's taplist right now (Brookline)

Lol that’s nuts. I wouldn’t even know what to do. I guess the Cantillions and the Coolship Red first then move on to hops stuff.

they're serving food for free too. Wished I lived in Brookline at the moment, cuz I def can't drive there and back.

I feel comfortable saying that's the best tap list I've ever seen. But, even though you can't get through everything on that list, the lists where all the best beers are BA stouts it's like, I can try 3 of you.

I don't see it on the menu, but I'd hope they'd do like 5-6oz pours of stuff. I feel like that's a pretty right balance.

I've not had much of that stuff, even the "common" stuffy like Heady/Focal/Lunch. I'd have to get the Kriek and then just enter a world of hazy. Probably would have to get a Supersoak as well, as I've not had one of those.

Edit: I'd also get a HF beer or two. Their saisons are pretty much flawless. Anyways, I'd be drunker than I'd like to be, but it would be in the name of science.

think my plan of attack woulda been:
Cantillion Kriek
Heady
Cantillion Framboise
OH Space Diamonds
HF Anna
then wtf knows

prob cap it off with O'Hara's.

I agree that I have never seen a better tap list anywhere at one time for a non beer fest. I'd start w/ the Framboise and then have just about every other beer on the list, in some order.

Fancy beer people,

While we all drool over that sick list, I’m keeping it real with some $12 six-packs!

After being on draft for a week or two, finally saw these guys in bottles:

Picked up a couple, because how can that not be right for $12?

First off, hard to believe this is 12.6%. Super smooth and easy drinking. Very chocolatey, just a little coffee flavor, maybe a little vanilla. Nice balance, not overly boozy or sweet at all. Nice touch of spicy rye whiskey flavor, not really any oak on it.

Overall quite happy with this. Gonna taste it with friends vs high-westified tomorrow. Just going off memory, I think high-Westified was more boozy and more coffee flavor.

Haven't seen any of that around yet, but if I do it'll be the first Heineken beer I've bought in roughly forever.

I'm hoping to get my hands on that as well. I thought High-Westified was great.

Went to a holiday party last night, where I drank a lot of beers. Nothing really notable other than the fact that I got into a big argument with two other dads about whether a generic dad in our city could throw a baseball 100 yards on the fly. I still feel pretty strongly that if you randomly picked 100 >35 year old dads from within our school district, 0 would be able to do it.

The Publick House is local to me, and I had no idea that was going on. Until 6pm last night when I stopped in for a quick one and saw a massive crowd and thought 'hmm this is weird'. Then I got to the bar and saw that list and laughed.

Anyways by that time the Cantillon was kicked, and I just wanted a quick one so I got The Crusher.

Ridic list of course

I sort of regret not getting the Coolship Red bc that does hold up real well to the Cantillon fruited stuff

Spider,

Are you in the same school district as Kyleb?

Yeah you are 100% correct, a lot of high school/college age guys who play baseball can't throw 100 yards on the fly

Nope - no driveline academies here. Would have been pretty great to have him take my side of the argument, though. Also, there's a reasonable chance that one of the guys (high school baseball player and quarterback) dragged his wife to the local football field to see if he could do it.

Damn just got a JUICE JR crowler in the mail. Gonna crack this in a couple hours.

Great notion is pretty good when they aren't playing around and doing stupid things like muffin or biscuit beers. Probably 5th or 6th best ipas in the northwest but definitely has the most hype.

Drinking a high westified tonight, still probably a bit better than the willitized even though the coffee has fallen off a touch.

Yep, 12.6% willetized smoother and less boozy tasting than 12.2% high west. High west has more of that high abv BA caramel sweetness to it. More coffee in the high west vs cocoa/chocolate in the willetized. I think I like the high west a little better, but love them both for the price.

That's just the tip of the iceberg, nice 6%er, but probably their ~15th best ipa.

Blueberry muffin is amazing and their most popular sour, never smelled a beer that even came close to its aroma.

Who are the other breweries? I didn't realize there were 5-6 places around here making stuff better than juice box but that I'm ears. I've had all the top rated stuff from Reubens, holy mountain, Fremont, structures, and all Portland stuff of course. Nothing from those places that even comes close to great notion so I'd love to uncover some hidden gems.

El Diablo,

You're like a hair's breath from saying you can taste the High West in that beer, which would be ironic.

Juice Jr was very good, incredible how there’s literally zero bitterness. I guess I could see how drinking a ton of those could mess with your palate. Got a friend in Portland now so I’ll be trying more of their stuff as time goes on.

I've not had any of the Great Notion beers as the asking price for a crowler of theirs is ridiculous, but I'm all ears to hear what better hoppy breweries there are in the PNW.

Cloudburst, Skookum, and 3 Magnets all seem to do the hoppy beers pretty damn well imo.

Fremont is decent, but my favorites there are all their bigger format winter beers. Holy Mountain seems to make good stuff though I think they are a bit overrated. Have only been up to Reubens once and Structures nada, so can't make much of a comparison.

I just moved to Seattle a couple months ago and haven't been down to Portland yet, so I don't know where they rank in relation to Great Notion.

Reubens newer hazy stuff is pretty close to juice Jr, as close as anything around seattle. Structures fuzz is nice as well.

3mags hazy stuff is alright sometimes, but doesn't touch GN.

Fort George is now distributing their new hazy stuff to bugger stores, fields of green, definitely the best shelf ipa around here.

Great notion crowlers are absurdly high. I still buy them all the time because it's that much better than everything else, but I am definitely excited that they are getting their canning line going. They said they would be canning very soon, hopefully $16-$22/4 pack depending on the beer rather than $16 jb crowlers.
