Another vote for Vortex burgers here. In the same part of town, Cypress St. is a great spot for your casual beer Friday. The have a nice patio with a big TV and its a little quieter than the bars in the area. On the other side of things, there are two big sports bars just down the street from Vortex that are always packed on Saturdays and Sundays, Taco Mac and Hudson Grill. They are your typical sports bars and don't offer anything to unique or interesting, but they are a great place to watch a game with a big crowd.

I'm staying in Buckhead. I'd say I'm not a gigantic foodie. I love everything but I'm not super picky. Out of those choices and some research I think I'm definitely more Vortex.

Best place to watch a soccer game? Fado?

Went to FLIP yesterday - chorizo burger delivered as always. In talking with some workers there, I caught the vibe that Blais doesn't have much of anything to do with it anymore. I'd hate to see it fall but if they don't keep things new and fresh I can't see both locations lasting forever.

Brewhouse in Little 5 is hands down the best place for soccer.

Both Fado and Brewhouse seem to be pretty popular for soccer, but I am not knowledgeable enough to tell you if one is better for certain games/leagues than the other.

Brewhouse is definitely the godfather of Atlanta soccer bars.

Never been to Fado.

Been to RiRa a couple times, not bad.

The Midway in EAV is an awesome newer place.

Re: Atlanta: Your favorite things to do or places to go

Great sushi in Atlanta is hard to find, there's plenty of good sushi though.

I live in Brookhaven so spend a lot of time in Buckhead naturally. A new bar opened in the East Andrews complex called Czar Bar. It's an overpriced vodka ice bar, but the sushi is as good as you'll find anywhere in the south. The chef is Saito Saito who mentored the head chef at MF Sushi, which was long the best (yet overpriced) fish in Atlanta.

It's a small sushi stand in the corner of the bar, but it's out of this world good. Get the mixed fish ceviche.

Re: Atlanta: Your favorite things to do or places to go

I'm 29 and probably a little too old to spend much time in Buckhead on weekend. (Avg age in that area like 22-23) so I spend weekends more in Brookhaven or Highlands/Decatur where it's more of a 'young professionals' crowd

However, if any friend or someone coming in town is looking to go out and meet girls/hook up or jus go hard, I would never send them anywhere but the Buckhead/E Andrews area. The talent in that few block radius of bars is insane. Easily the best area of Atlanta these days for meeting really, really hot girls. Sure you have to put up with college kids and frat boys with fake IDs, but there are 10s just all over the place. Highlands/Decatur is fun, but the talent level of the hipsters and older girls is nowhere near the ass running around Buckhead any given night.

There's been 5 or so new bars built in the area in the last year and it's now rivaling the Buckhead of 2000. Spending a night walking from PoolHall/Dive Bar/5 Paces/E Andrews will prob end in serious drunk and big bar tabs, but if you try at all you'll bring a girl home.

Dive Bar probably wins the highest ratio of hotness

Midway is an amazing bar, which it was closer to me.

I'm more of a Pub 71 regular since it's close to me. Anyone ever been there?

Re: Atlanta: Your favorite things to do or places to go

For whoever said they are up around exit 12, I would recommend Casa Nuova near McFarland and Hwy 9. Pretty good, classic Italian - the chef and his wife treat everyone like family and you can tell they cook their food the old world way.

For Tuscan Italian food in Buckhead - (not lasagna, spaghetti, etc) you must go to Antica Posta on East Paces Ferry. As a true foodie who has eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world, this place is delicious. Henry Winkler said it is the best Italian anywhere in the United States and hey, if Fonzie says its so, it must be.

The gemelli and tagliata are two items I highly recommend.

For anyone staying in the Buckhead area, you can generally priceline a room at the Grand Hyatt by bidding around $80 for 4 stars in Buckhead. I have ended up having to stay down there after too many drinks and have never paid over $100...at least 40+ times in the past 3 years.
