I like it. I'd prefer if it maintained the downtempo feel of the intro and Jay Z's verse throughout, or at least until the outro, though.

My favorite music forum just went down. Anyone's got any recommendations of sites/blogs to follow to stay up to date? I mostly listen pop/rock/folk/electronic, basically the kind of stuff being posted in this thread.

Maybe we could keep a list of sites/blogs? I'll try to get it rolling...

The big ones:
Drowned in Sound
Consequence of Sound
Paste Magazine

Hype Machine*
The Owl Mag*
Music Savage
Music in Press

Resident Advisor

Singer songwriter/Folk:
Song for the Day*
Ear to the Ground

NPR - All songs considered
Sound Opinions
Folk Alley - The Alleycast
Sock Monkey Sound

Added a * for favorites. Quote and add your recommendations.

Don't know why "dot mu" in the Music Savage link is censored.

Posted the awesome "Check on me" in the 2012 thread, pretty excited for this, set to come out January 23rd:

Southern hip-hop is indeed a truly resonating sound. The accent, slang, and on record ego of down south artists separates their craft from others. King personifies the southern culture of the rap game. With an infectious voice and recognizable sound, King is a true industry vet with the hunger of a rookie. Having been signed to Def Jam in 2006, King is bringing an undeniable rawness that will propel him back to the plateau for which he once achieved. While the South has often been criticized for lack of lyrical content, the Check On Me rhymer is masterfully incorporating catchy hooks and melodies, with thought-provoking punch-lines and wordplay. His music offers samples from everything that makes the south unique, with the diversity and multi-faceted nature that connects with all regions. King is hip-hop. King is the south. King is the embodiment of what the industry, along with the underground, has grown to expect and desire from that specific region. With a strong reume’, following, and industry sense, King is putting himself back on the map. As he drops new singles and gears up for his 2013 release of “Kush And Yellow Diamondz” the MAG spitter is sticking true to the connotation of his alias and aiming for the hip-hop throne of the south.

And this is old but great video and song:

Pantha du Prince & The Bell Laboratory, Everything Everything and California X best so far. Disappointed in Villagers.

Catchy tune:

This is fantastic, thanks. Don't know what Evandetta is, though. The band is called Voyager (from Birmingham).

saw them mentioned on the 1st page, but nothing after that. a damn shame they aren't bigger, one of my favourite bands OAT. anyway, yeah Yo La Tengo released a new album on the 15th, called "Fade". think this is the song i saw them play on Fallon the other day:

it sounded really good live imo, had some extra ppl playing with them and stuff (2 extra drummers)

then a 2nd cut from this one they put out, Before We Run.

anyway pretty promising start for this one. i remember not being super impressed with the first bunch of songs released from the last album "Popular Songs", but ended up liking it a fair amount.

check em out!

Foals leaked. I'm a fanboy but really liking it atm on first listen through. A friend said she thought it sounded like Coldplay but thankfully I can't hear that at all.

Oh yeah, Evandetta is Evan Mullins, the lead singer - must be his Soundcloud screen name.

I personally prefer Ryan Lewis' beats more than Macklemore's raps. His whole rap style is hard to get into because he just jams so many words into each verse and doesn't really rhyme that much.

I'm running a music sheep in POG if anyone wanna join:

Widower - Jumper cables (great folk song):

A 2012 gem I missed. Yellow Ostrich is one of the best pop bands out there.

New Bubba Sparxxx:

Not loving it. But he has made some great tracks in the past so cool that he seems to be back

Yeah I enjoyed Strange Land a lot.

New one from Jacques Greene, it's been appearing in a couple of mixes but finally a full version exists. He's a very talented producer

i like that bubba sparxxx song but i might be biased because of that girl being so hot.

New Black Angels.

A bit diff for them, like they're trying to create dance/psych or something.

Yeah, I really liked their debut and probably posted about it. This is pretty solid too. They're admittedly kind of a Mazzy Star knock-off but I think they write really good songs.

Also like Yo La Tengo, Grouper, and The Joy Formidable so far.
