what's preferred music thread method - youtube embed or soundcloud

If its like an official video youtube embed.
Otherwise, like if its just a picture of the album cover, soundcloud.

I was thinking yesterday about my experience at Sasquatch a few years ago. The afternoon set on the small stage was Tallest Man --> Local Natives --> Mumford & Sons, then I moved to the main stage for Broken Social Scene --> The National --> My Morning Jacket. Don't know if I'll ever get to a smaller festival and have such a good day.

I'm actually a little worried about the new album. A couple of track-by-track previews in music magazines suggest that the new single is one of the only tracks that sounds like classic Strokes. Sounds to be like this album will be on par with Angles, which would be pretty disappointing. But, of course, we'll have to wait to hear it.

"All the Time" is solid, but it's nothing special compared to their best singles and best tracks on their first two or three records.

Old school 60's beat from UK, but brand new:

From 2009, but worth a re-post

Autre Ne Veut's new album, Anxiety, has leaked (full album on YouTube).

I'm just blown away by this one. I have listened to it 3 times in a row now the whole way through without skipping a song. It's a straight-up masterpiece. Might be a weird way to describe it, but it's like a mix of The Age of ADZ (ambition, production) and Total Loss - and frankly so much better than either of those records, both of which I like a great deal.

I might think differently on future listenings, but I don't think so. Fantastic album.

Well, you could go to Sasquatch this year and likely see afternoon sets by Wild Belle --> Chvrches --> Tallest Man on Earth --> Toro Y Moi --> Father John Misty, then move to the mainstage for early sets by Japandroids and Grimes, followed by The Lumineers and Mumford and Sons...

And then go back the next day for Alt-J, The Presets, Tame Impala, and Edward Sharpe followed by the XX.

Oh, yeah and then Sigur Ros will close one night.

Also El-P, Killer Mike, Azalia Banks, and Macklemore/Ryan Lewis

My first Sasquatch was 2011, so I missed that great day you described, but I think this year is looking pretty promising. Sasquatch isn't getting any bigger and they keep improving it a little each year. Plus, the Gorge is just amazing.

It does keep improving.

I saw the Japandroids at the Sasquatch I referenced in the earlier post. They played at the tiny stage by the food court, and their set was basically a dozen teenagers in a mosh pit, another 10-20 people watching (of which I was one), along with a couple hundred people in the background eating lunch and barely paying attention.

I'm sure I've said it before, but to me the only downside of the Gorge is that it's a Live Nation venue. Other festivals such as ACL and Newport use local food & drink vendors, while the Gorge is basically Domino's and other similar corporate behemoths.

Pitchfork destroyed that album, lol. Has some nice songs on it, was a bit less than I was hoping for.

Just listened to the new side project for Alex Taylor from Hot Chip. Man what a song.

Also the Bonaroo lineup is delicious. I hope that's a precursor for what we may see in July on the east coast.

Funny, I've never really listened to this band before, but I can get behind this line in the Pitchfork review (talking about a specific track):

Their 6.5 review of Reptilian was a lot kinder than the 5.2 for this one. And I agree the 6.5 was low and ridiculous. I'm mostly commenting on how nasty the last review was.

Two things Pitchfork has been bang-on about with this band:

1) They have no real sense of an overall tone for any albums. It's very hard to listen to these albums start to finish, because frankly they're bipolar in a unpleasant way.

2) They're still probably scratching the surface of what they can deliver. There's a lot of talent in there, and it's often being wasted on tracks that could easily have been cut from the album.

Did you hear the amazing mixtape they did?

Phoenix and really like this song (makes me think they've heard Grimes' 'genesis'), but it's obviously not in the same ballpark as 1901 or Lisztomania... or Long Distance Call for that matter.

Been listening to a lot of Boiler Room sets recently. Absolutely in love with this guy
