Out of all of those I've only seen Sleigh Bells, but that show rocked real hard. Prepare to get pushed around a lot though.

I was thinking the same thing. It's the kind of song that is super goofy without a movie playing in front of it. (And I bet it is really good in the movie).

Case in point, the Chem Bros. soundtrack for Hanna is amazing in the film but super lame without it.

saw M83 at Lee's Palace recently, I'd classify them as can't miss. Already have a bunch of tickets for their next one

New "Now, Now" album is awesome.

Have only seen Justice live from that group and they were very good but it was a couple of years ago.

I would definitely be trying to see M83, Cults and First Aid Kit if given the chance, though.

Ya I live near Sound Academy, but might just go to M83+Justice at Fort York, still undecided.

First Aid Kid are pretty low key and self-effacing, lots of talking to the crowd.

Sleigh Bells rocked really, really, really hard.

M83 were great but also played a really short set so YMMV.

Took a while to post in here, been busy as all hell.

After a few years off from doing this, I'm back to throwing shows.

Just put offers on Jose Gonzalez, M83, Caribou, Foster The People, and I'm working on the Ting Tings. I'm sort of unsure about Foster The People since I saw them lip synch a concert. The musician in me grunches over that, the promoter in me wants to do the show. Looks like we missed the boat with M83 since they have a radius clause. They'll almost surely be at Osheaga in Montreal in August. They're booked to play with Justice in Toronto.

The Ting Tings is straight up because of what I've seen in here, and obviously I loved the previous album.

I do a lot of electronic stuff, but the goal is for 2012-2013 to be a big expansion into Indie. Probably expect to lose money on several shows to get into that market.

If you guys care about an update every few weeks, I'll post one. Would also be happy to post footage from the shows. I just thought maybe you guys would find it cool that some of your suggestions might turn into real bookings somewhere. My mini-crush booking right now would be a small Starfckers show. Just loved that last album, it's sort of something I'd do just to lose money but see them myself

I'm not exactly sure what's happening in this song. But I won't ever get upset over new Sufjan content http://www.npr.org/blogs/allsongs/20...p?sc=fb&cc=fmp

The experimental electronic artist and beat-genius Son Lux, rapper Serengeti and singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sufjan Stevens are giving listeners the first taste of a new EP they made together. The song, "Museum Day," from the upcoming Beak & Claw EP, is an epic collision of the three wildly imaginative artists and their singular voices.

Cults were hugely disappointing when I saw them last month. Made me realise how important the crisp production is to their sound, it really didn't work live at all.

I dug never really warmed to the Shabazz Palaces album like others did, But I dug their live show.

rafiki, def be keen for updates and clips. Often wondered about the booking side of things. Where you based?

For any Burial fans. So good!

Portland (or PNW) folks - I have 2 tickets to the First Aid Kit show on April 12th that I can't use. It was at the Doug Fir but was just moved to Wonder Ballroom.

I'd be happy to sell them for face value (12$ a pop), so you'll save a couple bucks on the added fees.

Yeah, I have had three friends tell me it was the worst performance they saw last year. One of them described their stage presence as "corpse like".

Capital of Canada baby!

I'll post the worthwhile stuff as it comes. Doesn't look like electronic stuff has much of a place in here, so it may be a bit slow to start. But if people care about electronic stuff (djs) I can also share some of that.

do you guys think an EDF megathread on music gear and pro-level shop talk would garner some interest? i'm thinking not only gear reviews and tips on technique, but also stuff more to do with the business side (networking, gigging, etc).

most of the music forums i have been part of are dominated by 19 year olds who think m-audio and epiphone invented rock and roll some time around 2002. so i thought perhaps the high-end tastes of EDF and the general demographic / signal-to-noise ratio could help keep things more on track.

I don't think EDF overall has enough traffic. It surely would be interesting, but I fear it would be sparsely populated. Give it a shot!

lol brilliant.

but i'm a bit offended and sad now, the first external soundcard i bought was a "m-audio audiophile"! lol. i even played in clubs with this pile of a crap a few times.

I would be interested, and although I haven't consistently played in a long time, I recently took a few online classes at Berkeley on the industry (was thinking about starting a label).
