I like to sometimes check the flop to disguise my hand. The runout felt quite safe so I went for the river shove. Am I out of line here?

I would remove what villain did after your shove so we don't see results.

Are you doing this for value from weaker Kings or as a bluff? I think for value, this is super thin and I'd just prefer a call here.

With the club draw on the flop, I'm usually firing here, but I don't hate the check. On a K84 rainbow board, I mix in some checks to under rep our hand since there aren't much in the way of draws out there.

River kinda feels like a call because we can't really be bluffing. We want to shove vs a whale and/or with some sort of crazy image or something, readless outside of any dynamic we just rep some random 8x by raising river and not much else, though shove might still be right should be close.

Checking back the flop is fine. I would just call river. I'm not sure how many worse hands call a shove.

At the time I felt the shove was good because my hand was so underrepped and the line looked bluffy. I did feel
Spoiler:
like a champ when he called me with KQ.
I can see now that it probably was too thin especially given that I have no history or read on the villain.

I would bet flop with my range but checking at a low frequency is fine. I like river shove, its thin but only hand were beat by is 88 and we get value from KQ.

I think people who are telling you to fold are confusing MPs stack instead of the initial effective stack (100bb). MP has to call ~40% or we can profitably shove with our entire river range

I get what you're saying. If I only bet underpairs, flush draws and AQ/AJ type hands I open myself up to being check-raised off every hand I bet.
I think of it as a variation play. I will also bet AA/AK here a good amount of the time. KK I will bet with two of a suit on board, check on rainbow board.
