Other than the nitty stats, the only notes I had on the player was:
- He had won a full stack with JJ vs a very loose calling station type player. Betting flop, betting turn, shoving river on a low board.
- He 2/3 pot CB AK on a Q high board.

I feel like I played this hand badly. I decided to commit based on the flop cards. I check raised since I felt he'd bet whatever he had so might as well let him before making a move. Once he shoved I felt it was fairly likely I was behind to Kings or Aces but a 99-JJ pocket pair was also possible so felt the pot odds were good enough to call, especially given he only called the 4 bet preflop (and would be gobsmacked if such a tight player calling preflop with a 4x hand or going this far with AK etc).

Would be grateful for opinions on my play and thought process.

With the info that Villain's 3b percentage is so low preflop I actually prefer a call rather than a 4b here preflop. Calling keeps in all the hands you dominate ie AQo, AQs, JJ, (Assuming he has a tight 3b range). Once you 4b he can actually fold all those hands.

On the flop I prefer a check call, once again x/r doesn't accomplish much since he can comfortably bet/fold JJ and bluffs (AKo, AKs) and continue with hands that beat you, KK and sometimes AA depending on whether he 5 bets that pre.

Of course this is all assuming that Villain plays somewhat "standard" and won't spaz off with random hands, which seems pretty reasonable from his stats over not a huge sample, but also not insignificant.

Yeah, that makes sense. He actually had JJ and gave me his stack, but I think that was the only hand I was beating that he would call my raises with. Even then I got lucky that he played it this way; like you say most solid tight players would probably have folded.

As the hand was played, would you have called the shove?

Actually fairly surprising that he had JJ because he's supposed to fold to 4b and never jam the flop as it should fold out all your AK's.

I probably would've just folded the flop as played because I don't think he has JJ in his range so I would've actually got bluffed by JJ!

Perhaps I need to start playing 888!

I still like the fold vs the raise on the flop though vs Villain perceived range. I could just be a nit though who knows.
