I've got some information on how to profile a NIT, TAGfish, REC whale, REC maniac, Good reg TAG, good reg LAG.

One thing I'm interested in is the players that seem to fit inbetween profiles, there's a lot of them at the micros.

For example, a player with VPIP, PFR, 3bet, AF:

17/5/3/3.

LAG tendencies but passive pre flop play.

How do you categorise and play against these inbetweeners?

Probably obvious to the experienced, but I'm only on 15k hands online so still relatively new.

Thanks!

yeah just don't categorize anyone
the hud is not something you should be basing your decision on in detriment of logic
I'm not much of a hud stat wizard and only really use the info off table to spot inbalances in the regs I play with a lot. I also only look at big sample sizes, 500+ hands for quick to converge stats like preflop and flop and 1k+ for turn stats. river you prob need 3k+
notes will always be better info than stats
take diligent notes on individual player actions

I'm sorry man but I don't agree lol it's a lot easier for me since I installed my hud since I can profile a player with ok accuracy after about 2/3 hundred hands. I'll use the hud to write the player profile in the notes. Plus my optimum plays come from when I play 4-6 tables. I can't just play one, I get too bored and loosen up.

I think you will make a ton of mistakes if you base crucial decisions on what a stat shows you after 2-300 hands
you should prob stick to less tables if you just started out, you can't properly think things through on 6 tables
if you're looking for a simple, automatic solution to poker, there isn't one
everyone got better through thousands of hours of playing+studying
the only ppl I categorize are fish, the aggro and passive varieties get different colors as I play

You clearly aren't a fan of a HUD lol yeah I agree, you get better through thousands of hours of playing and studying. I know poker isn't a way to make quick, easy money. I work/study/play very hard to improve. Not taking advantage of a HUD is just giving other players who use it (and are competent) an edge over you. Anyone who uses a HUD should know what stats are most realiable for a given sample size.

I have no interest in sitting on one table, observing every move when playing online. There are other ways I'd rather spend my time. I'd rather store their information on a database for me to refer to. Live, I would, because there are people to chat to as opposed to sitting there alone, staring at a computer screen lol I'm completely pro HUD because I've noticed the impact it's had on my win rate.
