PFR BU vs Steal BU stats confusion PFR BU vs Steal BU stats confusion

Hey everyone

I am kinda confused and need some clarification

My HUD shows me such stats of the villain (sample of 4000 hands):

PFR BU: 12

Steal BU: 35

So how come!? I mean logically PFR BU is supposed to be higher than Steal BU considering that PFR is the percentage of all raises from BU and Steal - the percentage of unopened pot raises from BU.

I can guess that the difference is because the PFR logs all pots when raises occur or not whereas Steal logs only unopened pots when raises occur or not. But Im not sure

BU PFR = (# times you raise on the button) / (# hands dealt)

It includes both your steals and the times you raise when other players have entered the pot.

BU Steal = (# times you *open the pot* from the button) / (# of hands where the action is folded to the button)

When someone enters the pot ahead of you, you do not have a steal opportunity, and that hand is not included in figuring the steal percentage.

Something like two thirds of the time (it will depend on the how tight or loose are the players to your right) there will be action ahead of you, so you don't have a steal opportunity.

Here's a probablity exercise: Assume that the player on the button opens the pot 50% of the time, and that each spot earlier in position is 2/3 as likely to open. What is the likelihood that the action is folded to the button?
