Does it? I have no idea and when I've asked people I've heard conflicting ideas. It seems to me it's going to be an occasional happening since both players have to have it turned on (as you mention). Interested in Roo's opinion on the RIT.

It's rare to see it happen from what I've seen. Don't think many people have it turned on.

It will reduce variance though, just don't know how much. My guess is that variance will be halved for every hand you RIT on cos in effect you're playing two hands instead of one.

Gotta remember though that variance is the reason fish sometimes win, and why they continue to play the game.

Embrace it imo.

Well of course it does. If we RII(run it infinite) we will run exactly at our AIEV won't we? So the more times we run it the closer we get to our true AIEV.

I don't know what Roo's opinion was though. Link?

I'd be more liekly to RIT against a reg than a fish, if they win all the power to them, hopefully they'll tell their mates about it!

I just leave it turned on always. If a fish wants to run it twice with me why wouldn't I oblige him. It costs nothing and has zero effect on the EV of the hand.

Think of a downswing or long break even stretch ( which is usually just a downswing that you'r finally about to pull out of ) and all those coin flips you couldn't win to save your life. Imagine if it were like 30 flips and you only won 5 of them. Sucks right? Now imagine instead out of those 30 flips there were 60 runs. It's now extremely unlikely that you only win 5 of those flips because that would mean you had to lose 50/60 runs. It could still happen but not as often as without RIT.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I know it will decrease variance, but I doubt that it'll have a significant impact

I am just one of those players who have it turned off and will keep it turned off.

I embrace the variance and have done so for the last X amount of years.

I am not saying it is good or bad either way, just personal preference.

I am not even entering this and I do realize that free money is free money.

Still, is it really true that you do not even get those 5000fpps back? So you are only actually making $40-50.00 profit? (insert eyeroll )

Again to me, overall PS can do no wrong but these figures do not make me want to tell everyone how " right " they are doing it either when it comes to this promotion.

i have RIT on always in spots v regs. in blind battles or with overs and fds etc. not everybody has it on, but it's not a bad hedge for the same rake price, when there's little edge between players. i always turn it off with the nuts or vs. fish... if someone asked me in chat i'd turn it on. i turn it on hu v regs when i'm starting tables... and ask them sometimes if they wanna rit.. it loosens up the action, which attracts other players as well. not smart to have it on v. fish unless you're shot taking or if it's a close situation. even when it's a close spot it's still not bad to have it off due to the amount of opportunities other regs will have to snag that players' loot.

dems da brakes yo

Why turn it off with the nuts? Variance is the same no matter what your equity is, right?

In my opinion still teh best option here is to limit teh amount of tables where a player can buyin for 50BBs and play simultaneously to 6 or lower. If he wants to play moar than 6 tables he has to at least buy in for 75BBs?! or even 100BBs on table 7,8,9, etc. This solution will hit not a single recreational player bc none of them is playing moar than 6 tables ever so these recreationals will not even realize that you changed something. In the meanwhile this will get rid of all professional ratholing shortstackers, bc with only 6 tables it is impossible for them to continue there strategy (due to teh loss in rakeback mainly). AND even if they continue to shortstack which is absolutely fine with me, you will solve teh rathole/shortstack issue bc you decrease teh number of them overnight by 75% which would mean 1 or 2 shortstacks at a fullring table compared to 4-8.

rgd removing table selection: if that happens i will stick around and see what happens but it's very likely i'm done with stars. imo tableselection is still a big part of teh game and you should not just eliminate this. for all those people who bitch about it i don't understand why they don't play ZOOM exclusively anyways...
This does seem like a good idea.

I think ratholing and bumhunting and the sheer number of `pro` shortstackers are harming the games but because I table select it looks like Im classed as a bumhunter even though I will play any player at the level I am playing at but realize I make more money by at least thinking about what tables I join. Its almost akin to saying fish should be forced to play less than 30% of their hands because regs have an advantage over them because of it.

Yep agreed. I am really not noticing much difference on Stars now as to how FT used to play before BF. Games are good I just wish I had as much time to play them as I had back then.

It makes me laugh so much when small stakes regs like Tim Stone say they'll leave stars if they eliminate table selection. Tim made like 170k last year. On What site besides stars is it possible to make 15k a month playing 200nl?
