I like your bet on the flop.

I would probably have called the river raise also.

Q1: what about the turn bet?

Q2: what about the bet leading the river, which enabled him to CR?

As far as the turn bet, I frequently check the turn. However in this case your already good hand actually improved on the turn to better than top pair and very likely the best hand. The villain has a lot of hands which he may call with which are worse than your 2 pair. Also, 2 hearts may give him a draw, so you should charge to see the river. I would be inclined to bet here.

Regarding the river, it isn't the calling of the all-in that I think was a problem, it was actually the third barrel bet on that board.

Once you led for .59 cents on the river, you had 1.14 in and you started with 1.89. That's 60% of your stack. IMO you are pot committed so you may as well call unless it is absolutely obvious that you are beat, which it wasn't.

    The river card is concerning.
    But is it really?
The heart draw wasn't on the flop so he didn't start out drawing to hearts. I'm not sure what 9 he is representing. Pre-flop, he cold-called a raise and then cold-called a 3 bettor who was squeezing a raise and a call. I DON'T LIKE HIS PF ACTION AT ALL.
(And then to find out he did that with KJo, I think you can ID that player as pretty fishy, for future reference).
(While we are on the subject of PF play, I don't like the way the BB played at all either. I don't know what he was trying to accomplish with that tiny little raise. Compound that by the fact that he then check-folds the flop. So weird).
Anyway, what 9 is the CO representing?
I think his action might be consistent with pocket 5's and pocket 9's and KQ and maybe T9s. I don't think it is advisable to play any of those hands the way he played them, but nor do I think KJo should be played the way he played it. I also don't think T9 or KQ would still be around by the river - but with idiot players . . . they might just show up with anything.

ON THE RIVER: My thinking would have been that I want to showdown my 2 pair hand and I don't want to get raised off of it, so a check-call is in order and it may just go check-check which would be fine. That's how I think I would have played it.

    GL out there.

Notice that (1) the min-3bet from the BB preflop which you might assume means a very strong hand, actually meant nothing and (2) that the Ace in the turn doesn't really improve your hand strength - it just helps you make more money if your opponent has Ax including A9 and A5.

But for the most part the key to beating NL2 is to simply play tight. There are tons of really, really bad players in these games who love to play nearly any two cards. The key to beating them is to simply start with a better poker hand.
