Villain is 14/10, 3 bets on SB 7.6% on sample of 800+ hands. When villain didn't lead on on this board, I interpreted it as a sign of weakness and tried to take it away assuming he had tried to be cute with KQs etc.

When villain called, I put villain on a tight range of AA, KK, QQ, AQs, AJs, AKs, AKo. For some reason, I felt I could push him off all his non-Ace hand, especially he deliberated for such a long time on flop and turn.

As played I don't think I could've called, even though I was pretty much pot committed, but I just felt so strongly that he knew I was bluffing.

I guess the moral of the story here is...bluff less?

From villain's perspective I think this is a great board to check/call if he's holding an Ace. If he bets out it allows you to play perfectly with your pocket pairs and Kx hands and fold. By checking he allows you to basically bluff at it. That you did and he called should probably be enough for you. Yes he could be doing this with KK/QQ but there are a hell of a lot more combos of Ax in his range then there are of those holdings. With just AK and AQ in his 3betting there are 30 combos of those along with AA versus just 13 of KK, QQ and JJ. With a 3bet as high as 7.5% we can add in AJ, 10-10 and A10s as well to make the equation even worse with only KQ to help you.

Yeah it sucks when you want to take a stand against a persistent 3bettor and you miss the flop with a good starting hand but that's always the risk with flatting hands like JJ and QQ.

Should have been 27 not 30 above due to only 3 combos of AA being possible. Adding in all of the other holdings it comes out at something like 25 we're ahead of vs 48 that we're behind to.

why are you betting on the flop and turn?

    what worse ever calls you?

    what better folds?

your hand has decent show down value, why turn it into a bluff?
