I learned this lesson a long time ago: EV is more important than value at the moment!

PokerStars - $0.16 NL - Holdem - 7 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

UTG: 44.56 BB
UTG+1: 100 BB
MP: 98.88 BB
Hero (CO): 127.69 BB
BTN: 135.75 BB
SB: 129.75 BB
BB: 147.5 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 9 8

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 2.5 BB, fold, SB calls 2 BB, BB calls 1.5 BB

Flop: (7.5 BB, 3 players) 2 6 Q
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks

Turn: (7.5 BB, 3 players) 7
SB checks, BB bets 4.38 BB, Hero calls 4.38 BB, fold

River: (16.25 BB, 2 players) T
BB bets 9.44 BB, Hero raises to 120.81 BB and is all-in, BB calls 111.38 BB

Hero shows 9 8 (Straight, Ten High)
(Pre 48%, Flop 8%, Turn 18%)
BB shows 6 6 (Three of a Kind, Sixes)
(Pre 53%, Flop 92%, Turn 82%)
Hero wins 248.5 BB

Not sure if his line on the flop is necessarily bad (although Iīd often bet there with middle set). River itīs a bluffcatcher imho, and a shove over such a small pot, in my experience, is heavily underbluffed regardless of texture at the micros (at least 10nl and down)

So if I had to judge villainīs play, Iīd say river is the mistake.

Agree with previous poster. BB's line OTF is standard. He can expect you to cbet a good amount. Perhaps he has you on a slightly stronger range, too, as 98o is usually a fold from the CO.

OTT, I think he needs to be vbet a bit bigger. At least 5BB, perhaps even closer to 6 or 7 BB to partially recover from the street of value lost. You call is fine obv.

OTR, his vbet is fine. But as previous poster suggested, his call is a bit questionable given the massive overbet and that we're slightly deep.

If he vbets river with something like 76s, QTs, 22/66/77/TT, and 98s, that's like 20 combos. Throw in a few Qx (depends on what he's calling with pre) and a few bluffs and we arrive at maybe 30 combos.

To be unexploitable, he needs to defend like 42% of those. That would be like 13 combos. So that's two combos of 98s for the str8, three combos of TT (if he doesn't 3b it pre), three combos of 77 and three combos of 66.

The truth is, though, that people underbluff significantly when they river raise ai for an overbet sizing so maybe he should defend something like a set of 7's and up.

Yeah. Not seeing much the villain does massively wrong till the river.

Villain wants to bet about 6BBs on turn as his 6s will get called by Queens and draws whatever the case. River bet 14.5BBs into what'll be a 19.5BBs pot and he should be able to get value from strong Queens and two-pair hands whilst knowing he can fold to the shove as there's no way its a bluff at this level.

Nh for you though.
