Would appreciate some advice about the following hand played at my local casino live in a 9 hand table.

4th hand at the table, so no reads whatsoever.

I am middle position with K Q and open with 5BB.

Late position calls.

Effective stacks are 200BB

Flop comes K 9:spades: 3:clubs:

I lead for 8BB and min raised to 16BB.

I call. Turn is 8

Check, V bets 30BB. I call.

River is T

V bets 15BB. I call. V shows pocket 9s

Should I have folded at some point?

When he raised on the flop maybe?

Why the 5BB open? Is that pretty standard for live?

Typically on a super uber dry board like that, I'd usually prefer to check. There aren't many Kx type hands the villain can have since we have blockers.

As played, I don't mind calling the min-raise on the flop, but I'm probably throwing this away after more aggression on the turn. Think about what he can have that's raising you on that flop. Like I said there aren't as many K combos and if there were, does he do this with KJ/KT type hands? Although there really aren't any holdings where he should be raising here, but he's flipping his cards over here telling you he has it. I'd let it go.

Fold turn. Rarely you will see raise on flop then another bet from turn without something good on a dry board like that
