Whilst it seems counter-intuitive to bet on this sort of flop as we have only third pair and there are very few cards that would help us on the turn, I am wondering that if we just check/fold every time we open from EP with a middle pair and get a flop like this then are we not opening ourselves up to exploitation? Allowing players behind to bet relentlessly when we check OOP as the pre-flop raiser? It doesn't make sense to X/call, so should we ever cbet this sort of flop on the simple merit that the flop hits our range better than the Pre-flop callers?

Heads up, this looks like a standard continuation bet to me.

Would you mind explaining your logic behind this? I've posted this on another forum and the general consensus is the opposite. I'm not saying I think they are right, just that I like to here your logic, thank you.

Yes exactly. I'd fire one c-bet here and shut down if called

pokerbetts, I'm firing a continuation B since this F does hit our range better than the V's. It would be an easier B if the F didn't have two of a suit, since we probably aren't firing more than one barrel, but you might as well fold out all that paint that still has decent odds against your 66.

There’s never a one size fits all rule here, it’s dependent on V.

I’d CB all day against a guy who overfolds. I’d never CB into an aggro donk. I’d just be pleased I got heads up in a pot vs one with a hand that can be very nutty.

One of the reasons to cb a flop is our sdv and how vulnerable it is. This hand has a touch of sdv but it’s very vulnerable. So a cb would suite our hand if other factors are in favour.

But if you can’t win with medium-baby pp without hitting the flop then yeah oop drop them for a bit.

This is a x/f. 6-6 is one of the weakest pairs in your opening range and you block no hands in his calling range. People have a tendency to over c-bet in these spots just hoping that their opponent is scared of the ace and folds. To maintain a balanced strategy, you likely should be c-betting around 40% of the time here. This shouldn't be one of those hands.

The conclusion that I have come to is that c-betting these small pocket pairs in these sort of spots becomes a lot better when we have some added equity such as a BDFD. If we had the 6 of clubs here, AND we were against, as Gabe mentioned, an opponent that overfolds then I don't think its too bad, otherwise its probably better to just let these go and look for some better bluffs to balance our value cbets.

If someone folds to c-bets often then cbet. I suppose you could range bet small, but you aren't getting exploited 90% of the time if you just x/f imo. And if you think are being exploited by some player check sets to him sometimes and the "exploitation" just disappeared.

I'd cbet as well. This is one of those flops which it's easy to miss and the villain is unlikely to hit something.
