its not so relevant now but totally tells you how to smash the fish once you find them.
This forum seems to say something else..
And this is how most discussions go..
What I am asking is.. everybody seems to talk like this now, is it GTO or something else?
I have seen Polks videos and thought "hmm when I get up to 200NL Im gonna need to know that stuff but I dont need it yet.."
These discussions seem to say it is very relevant now in the micros.. so is there a source of wisdom, a link to a guide like sircuddles on steroids..
where is this accepted approach described, and why is it the accepted approach in the micro forums when all I have to do is play ABC vs all the callers ?
FYI I am playing 10NL on stars and trying to improve .. join in the forums, but my approach feels so alien to what I read, I feel like I am years behind the times..
Hmm. There is a lot of noise and chatter in the forum that makes it not the best learning tool. Every hand will usually be debated, seldom is there agreement.
I think you are searching for the right vocabulary and methodology to understand what you are reading.
In any case, the best way forward is to start posting your own hands.
Tips:
1) do not include the resulting action after the point in the hand you are curious about. People are results oriented by nature, but poker is not. Poker is about decision making.
2) if you have a good sample of statistics on the villains in the hand, include that. Otherwise label them ‘unknown’.
3) describe your thoughts for why you played it the way you did. This is your range of hands you would play similarly, so your opponents don’t know your exact hand, but your range of hands.
4) have some thick skin. Accept some criticism, but also stand up for yourself. Just because you are learning does not mean that we are smarter than you. However, if we all agree that you misplayed the hand, it is very likely you did misplay the hand.
5) Get to it! Post some hands! Also ask questions in the hand threads that you don’t quite understand.
