Ignition .02/.05 nl, 8 handed
No reads on villain

MP - $7.14
HJ - $3.81
Hero (BB) - $9.15

Preflop
Hero has A Q
Folds to MP who limps $.05, HJ raises to $.25, folds to Hero who calls $.20, MP folds

I know this is a potential 3b spot, but both the limp from a bigger stack and a larger than usual raise from a smaller stack make me wary. I elect to flat

Flop ($.55): A 5 A
Hero checks, HJ goes into timebank (?) and then bets $.55, Hero raises to $1.35, HJ calls $.80

Turn ($3.25): A 5 A 2
Hero bets $2.55, HJ folds

What is the best line here for max value?

After his flop PSB I think his range includes large pocket pairs (maybe JJ+) and some broadway combos, weighted toward hearts. I raise relatively small (less than 3x) because I think he'll call in position with a pair or flush draw.

On the turn I considered checking, but he had less than a PSB left behind and with the hearts draw I didn't want to give him a free card. Is there another line that would've had better chances to get his whole stack?

I think if your gonna check call the flop then you kind of have to check call the turn to. by checking then calling your telling v that your drawing/have an underpair. the only hands that lead turn are Ax and 34. if your gonna slowplay a better line would be to check call flop and turn then get it in on non heart rivers to make your hand look like a busted flushdraw.

The sizing pre is due to a limper, a 3B depends how wide HJ stacks limpers.

I think we have to c/c this flop, looking to c/r the turn. With the c/r you either have Ax or a bluff. Then the turn bet is much less likely to get good action. We can get more money in with a turn c/r.

I think you want to be betting the turn for around half pot and on the river bet 25-35% pot. Your equity is really high and there aren't many worst hands that can call so you need to use smaller bet sizing to induce light calls

I'd def 3bet, but as played I think I would go a little higher on the flop (1.5-1.65) and put villain all in on turn.

I like a bet/check/bet line especially if flush draw doesnt get there. I think it makes it look more like missed flush draw.

I like x/c flop and then x/r all-in on turn. It isn't so uncommon for players in these spots to continue with a pot sized bet on the turn at a high frequency.

If turn gets checked, ship river. If flop gets checked, take the betting lead on turn and get it in on the river.

He shouldn't have too many flush draws with the Ah on board. Any flush draw combinations he does have would probably get it in on the flop, leaving underpairs and unpaired combos. Thus, it's probably best to check call for bluff shoves and worse value hands that want to get paid from the random KhQh, QhJh, Th9h combinations you can have OTT (But you should be shoving those after c/r flop and we're hoping they don't know that). But that's if flop is as played. Your line is fine and if you were to do the same thing next time, I'd make it 3x so that your turn shove lays a better price for them to call.

Bet flop, and then check raise or check shove turn.
