.05/.10c Cash Game on BOL. UTG with pocket 7's I raised to .25c I get 3 callers the flop comes
7,3,10 rainbow BB checks I check UTG+1 checks and Button bets .67c I slowplay my set and just call, also UTG+1 calls as well
the turn brings the 8 of hearts no flush draw at this point the only real threat is j/9 or 9/6 so I check in order to implement a check raise and it checks around
the river brings a J which gives any 9 a straight here I check UTG+1 also checks and button bets $2.89 I believe this is where I got bluffed and another good point I can mention is that I believe that I made a mistake by not check raising the flop. It really looks like a value bet but I make the fold and villain takes it down. What hands with a 9 does the button call pre with here????
this is almost exactly what happened to u in ur other thread with trip kings lol.
at these stakes ppl will def pay off huge value bets the entire way so while i understand ur trying to slowplay a monster i think u would be much much much better off betting this hand hard right from the flop.
its always better to win a small pot than lose a giant one (obv)
not x/r flop is a big mistake
you should not plan to x/r turn ap when the board just gets worse for you
put money in when you're ahead
leading turn is a better option as your opp will sometimes x/ his pair+draw
river is always a fold ap, a lot of 9x out there, you cannot expect your opp will turn his 1 pair hand into a bluff or bet 2p for value
I fully grasped the concept of taking down small pots but my goal is to improve so that's why I might take a different approach from the norm so in the future when I'm in the same sit again I can be more confident in my ability to make the correct play. But maybe at these stakes I should just try to print as much money as I can. I agree with Ionutd check-raising the flop is TO. Please just stop reading after the flop this is the worse thread ever!! But thanks for your 2 cents you guys
if your making any money its variance , i would recomend reading some of the books here on 2p2. the line of thinking you have can be expensive and last a life time if your stubborn enough.
You're basically telling everyone at the table: if I hit a monster, I'm slowplaying and not cbetting.
So from now on when you cbet, you're telling everyone you don't have a monster, giving them an easy opportunity to value bet their good hands and bluff you off your mediocre hands.
BET THE FLOP
BET THE TURN
STOP SLOWPLAYING AGAINST FISH
