I've noticed that when I get to the point where I'm winding up my playing for the session I play differently. Perhaps it's knowing that I've got a few hands left before the BB get's to me and I'm going to quit.

Here is one from today.....

BTN has been seen to be unable to fold several times during the session costing him his stack on more than one occasion, no other real reads.

Had this not been one of my last hands I don't think I would have continued in the face of his flop raise.



My real question is about this hand pre flop. Once I've decided to call the pre-flop raise I feel committed given the board texture and then the turn card. Whilst I'm not comfortable with the way the whole hand played out I think it's because I started it badly.

Just for info I'm still a new player so don't feel bad pointing out even the most obvious things.

How exactly do you feel you play differently? Do you tighten up, or try to squeeze out a few extra wins, with reckless plays, hoping to finish your session on a high?

I try not to consider my stack during play in terms of how far I'm up or down. I try to just play hands on merit regardless.

I get the feeling that with only a few hands to go I tend to be more speculative and end up putting more in the pot than I would at other times. The hand above is an example. I'm certain that if I played that hand early in the session I'd fold to the pre flop raise of 7bb.

I think there is an element of either 'I might hit big and recoup some of my losses' or 'I'm up so I can gamble with the profit I made'.

I suppose the best way to avoid this is to just get up when it's time to go rather than staying until the BB hits. The idea was that I will see x more hands for free by waiting but if I'm going to throw away chips during those hands it's not a good idea. Either that or force myself to only open AA, KK, AK and nothing else during that time.

I would open the pot with 33 instead of limping.

OTF you’re out of position with a pretty low hand, no need to bet here and out yourself in a position to get raised.

Same thing on the turn, just check this back.

As played I’d be folding on the flop to that raise.

This hand is just awful start to finish. Doubt this has to do with end of session or not

Open hand preflop. Don't lead into the raiser post, it is not a good idea in virtually any situation. Fold flop, we have better hands to call down with, but we should be opening all of them in the cutoff.

Also, if you don't feel like you are playing solid, just leave the game. It will be there when you are ready to play your best game.

Waiting to play your last button in a session is a really good way to wipe or profits. If you is time limits, just log when it's time, don't try to play one more orbit.

As for the hand:
Fold pre
C/F flop
C/F turn

I'm glad you won, but with this line you're almost never good. Would you stack of pre with 33? That's essentially what you did. If you're determined to set move all streets, despite not having odds, check. If villain raised flop, he isn't folding turn most times, imo.
