my comment is the reverse....i knew 30 times yesterday i could bet pot on river and ship it...only to chk it down and see bottom pair as expected...im a fish anyways...but wondered how many people have same instinct in a session....is this an execution leak or common when confidence gets crushed ...ive always been a lurker but plan on being more active on 2+2 so hopefully with welcome arms....lol...like the mental game great post op
ability to pull good triggers (and/or also identify good triggers) is usually effected by confidence

(glad you enjoyed the COTW, and welcome to 2p2 =) )

Awesome article, definitely something I need to work on. Came looking for this, as I just played a long (for me) session, and my discipline and execution really tailed off at the end.

Will be trying to implement some of this over the next couple of sessions.

The more problems other people have, the more you'll win. Be happy other players have problems lol.

Very well executed, Split!

I especially like the bit about talking to yourself, i do this a lot when i play! It is slightly nuts, but it bloody works!

Nice article, have to agree that discipline is key. There are an awful lot of very good and talented players who are broke due to poor discipline.

Personally speaking, I am pretty disciplined but every once in a while I'll do something crazy (drunk play, chase, too high limit) which brings me crashing back to earth. Luckily, I never take it to extremes and these incidents don't cripple but I'm sure I'd have maybe 25% or so higher winnings if I avoided them.

I belive that we do need to make those fishy plays from time to time, just to get the bot out of us(as most poker players are gamblers too)... but def. doing them too often is a sign of tilt and should be kept to the lowest possible. Very nice read, should have read it in 2011 ).

I got ADHD, i haven't tried with the music. I'm still focusing on finding out different things and improve my game. When i got it all down i might try it.

But the thing is, i just started on some medication against ADHD and it surely helped me a lot on focusing on the game and make the right folds (witch has been a biiiig issue for me) but with that medication, whenever i do something exciting my heart starts pumping a bit fast and my pulse goes up. And it didn't do before i started on it. (If i go into a pot or even watching a football game)

Is it just something you get away from whenever you get more experienced or is there something you think i could specific do?
