In the example in the beginning it says he goes to $4, SB Folds, we 3b up to $12, we are risking $12 to win $4.5.

I understand the SB Folds so that's $0.50, and also we'd be winning the $4 from the button steal, but what about our BB that we posted? Didn't we post $1, so technically we aren't losing that? So aren't we risking $11?

I'm confused on what we're risking in this sense.

i can't believe nobody called me out on that before! You are correct, we are risking $11 and thus the breakeven number will change slightly. So we'd be risking $11 to win $4+$1+$.5.

Sorry for any confusion...apparently 2009 me sucked at math =P
