[MICRO] CO vs BB Turn Set vs River Flush

Hi, this is my first post. I've just started browsing the forums while I slowly go through from the ground up and play on Ignition. (WA state) I have no reads at the table because I just sat down and it's anonymous.
It's full ring at .2 / .5 and most everyone has 100bb except middle position with 200+bb.
Pre Flop: folds to MP, MP raises to 3bb, Hero calls 3bb (Kc Js), BTN calls 3bb, SB folds, BB(villain) calls.
Pot: 13.5bb
Flop: 8s, Kd, 4d
Checks to Hero, Hero bets 8bb, BTN folds, BB(villain) calls, MP folds.
Pot: 29.5bb
Turn: 8s, Kd, 4d, Kh
Check, Check. This is where I feel I messed up. I had two reasons for checking, but I don't know if they're good reasons, and I don't want to be results oriented. I wanted to trap here in case Villain put me on a king after betting one while also not bloating the pot if I was outkicked. I also didn't want to bloat vs. a Flush draw, however, I should probably bet to prevent a flush draw from continuing?
Pot: 29.5bb
River: 8s, Kd, 4d, Kh, 9d
BB bets 31bb, Hero calls. BB flips over Ad, 6d
I'm also unsure if I should call since I'm beat by again better kicker and a flush filling out. I decided to just get to showdown.
Thanks for reading and your input. I need to figure out a hand catcher for a converter to use on ignition to make this easier.
