1stly: Please excuse my preflop raise size. It should probably be bigger, but my BTN play is ****ty and I have been toying around with min bets with my entire range so that is my reasoning for low sizing.

I have been trying to play better recently, and that involves thinking a bit harder about marginal spots in very small pots, which are usually easy calls because of such a small pot, but end up losing at such a high percentage that they might be seriously affecting win rate.

This river spot used to be an easy call. Is thinking about this spot being way to nitty? Should it just be an auto-call all the time?

Granted, the SB had me shaking in my boots too.

I put a lot of 8's in both their ranges when my flop was called. And BB led a value-sized river into two players including a SB that still could likely both have an 8 and a better Qx...

I cannot believe such a small pot is causing me so much pain. I almost wish it didn't go to showdown so I could have taken solace that I made the right laydown.

But did I? Is this one of those "don't be TOO results oriented" because although he didn't have me beat this time, does BB usually have trips in this spot for a 1/2 pot river bet?

What are the percentages he is turning made hand into a bluff at this point?

I know $2NL players are not thinking about my range so perhaps this is a moot discussion for this limit.

Can't fold with that hand/bet size even with 2 8's on the board. It's not about whether they have 8's or not. Sometimes you have to lose. Sometimes BB will be holding QK, QJ, QT or 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 99, A2 and you missed your opportunity. There are 8's in his range yes but can't fold TP/AK for $0.11 on that type of board. You also need to double barrel on the turn. No reason to think oh he's got 8's. Flush draws, 2's and Q's with a lower kicker are also possible.

You're getting over 3:1 odds. Mixing in some weaker Qs in his range, you have more than enough equity to call here.
