I'm wondering when AK is good to throw away. I keep running into raising preflop with it and then hitting a dry board and asking myself now what? Any help in greatly appreciated and thank you.
He's absolutly never folding a better hand on the flop imo so I think c-c is the best play. We can't c-f, we almost have direct odds to hit a pair and we obviously beat some hands.
If you can play AA the same way, check flop fine. This spot is only worth thinking about when deep. I think the 1/3 w entire range works. I also like 1/2 pot bet polarized. The thing is, after u 3bet, it’s somewhat required to bet the flop. It’s kind of like opening doors for girls. You’re just supposed to do it and there’s not muc EV to be gained by being unorthodox here. The only legitimate reason to check flop is to induce bluff from otherwise folding hands, or to pot control with AK. However, by playing the pot control line, I think when deep, you effectively give away the pot by checking. Unless you start checking monsters once in a while, then you will get run over by any decent opponent

this is why i think training videos are fine. especially on youtube.
I think that in this sit since it was blind vs blind it could've gone all in.. but since it is a cash game I don't really think it was necessary. I've always said that a lot of people overplay A/K (You can check out a thread that I started about A/Q) but in regards to this hand a call pre when he re raise you would have been ideal and on the flop since you're oop a check raise would have prob worked. But not a huge leak just bad run out
You just have to shove this flop. he has 5/6 of a pot sized bet remaining. Make it difficult for him. You made it easy by checking.
That's usually my line of thinking too. If they have a PSB or less left, just shove. They're probably calling regardless, but no point really checking here IMO.
