PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (5 handed) - Converted at http://www.handhistoryconverter.com

Hadn't been at the table for long, so no reads on villain. Wanted to know if I played this hand alright.

UTG ($2)
MP ($2.66)
Button ($1.92)
SB ($2.90)
Hero (BB) ($3.80)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A, J
UTG raises to $0.06, 3 folds, Hero raises to $0.15, UTG calls $0.09

Flop: ($0.31) A, Q, 7 (2 players)
Hero bets $0.20, UTG raises to $0.83, Hero folds

Total pot: $0.71 | Rake: $0.02

When he bets turn here I couldn't think of much he could have that wasn't beating me. Was it right to fold?

Thanks.

Edit: I mean when he raises flop, of course

When he bets turn? I presume you mean when he raises flop.

Readless, it's probably not a mistake to fold to large raises when holding one pair hands.

I think we can rule out AK, villain could have AQ orQQ in this spot however if we are going to be folding a cbet to a raise we are probably best off not betting...

I think as played if we think beaten on flop then almost definitely beaten on turn, not enough outs to justify carrying on imo.

Normally I just call ajo from B.B. unless I 3bet co/button

Calling AJo in SB vs UTG will have large reverse implied odds tho.

Well I don't think you have to worry about AA or KK because he likely would've reraised you preflop. I would rule out flush draws too since he reraised on the flop. I'd say he may have AK, AQ, A7, maybe 77, TT, JJ. Something along those lines. I think you made a good laydown. It's unfortunate you don't have any stats on villain- that would make it an easier decision.

SPR is just shy of 6. V is setting up a shove on the turn. If you call pot will be about $2, V shoves for 1, do you really want to call with AJ?

I probably check/call flop and see what happens on the turn

Readless, I think it is okay to let this one go. Most people here either have a monster hand or a monster draw so you're not looking too good here.

I'd probably raise more preflop, but that may just be me. I think betting and checking the flop are viable options. What your opponent has done is usually a sign of strength that wants to bust an AKish hand.

I think this seems fine. Perhaps call pre as if you 3 bet then argument that you shouldn't then lay it down if you take that line. Though appreciate the urge to 3b from utg as opposed to call oop

you should 3bet to .20, if you 3bet .15 he will just lol and call getting good odds IP with pretty much any hand he opens with in HJ.

Bet flop smaller, half pot. Half pot (or less) is ideal in 3bet pots because you do not need to build a pot when it is already big enough to get stacks in by the river betting 3 streets. You can check flop as well here and go for value on later streets.

When he raises just fold, people rarely make big bluffs and it is not worth stacking off here.
