50NL Bankroll Question 50NL Bankroll Question

I wanted to get some feedback regarding a $1500 BR for 50NL without the possibility of using HUD.

I was thinking about 50 buy-ins at $30 each, rather than 30 buy-ins at $50 each.

Why the former? I want a solid fifty buy-in shot where I can determine if I can or cannot beat this game. I've been running horribly for several months and I didn't dedicate a specific amount to 50NL, and instead just kept hopping around to different limits as well as cash and SNGs.

Because of that, I don't feel I have determined anything except I'm running bad and losing to 3-outers. This time I just want to put the entire fifty buy-ins to 50NL and either make it or walk away and just play recreationally.

I've studied and continue to study, I have a great poker library and I'm an avid viewer of poker videos. I don't think I am fooling myself. I feel like I get my money in good, but I constantly lose to that Ace on the river.

Comments please.

I saw in your previous posts that you live in Vegas. I strongly feel that you would be best off just splitting those $1,500 into 15 $100 buy-ins for live 1 2 NL. Make sure to play soft games like ones at the Planet Hollywood and other casinos that do not offer bigger games on weekend nights.

1 2 Live games in Vegas will be a lot softer than NL50 online.

Interesting feedback. I'm concerned that having only $100 on the table will make me a target for aggressive players. I would feel very vulnerable and play too cautiously having so few chips. I actually tend to buy in for $300 and would probably have another one or two hundred to top off, if I started dipping.

I've never played at PH, but when I started playing 1/2NL, I was actually warned against playing there because of the loose play they're known for.

I really would like to build up a healthy bankroll via online play and then be able to play live now and then.

Dont play short stacked, simple as that. 30 BI for a shot at NL50 is fine, not recommended but if you cant wait? Lose 5-10BI then go down to NL25. But honestly if you beat NL25 there is no need to stress, arguing about bad variance and going up in stakes is never a good idea.

Playing on WSOP.com and one level down from NL50, is NL20 on this site. I think if I realized I was being out played, I would drop down to NL20, but if I just lose to being out-lucked, I'm going to stick with it.

I'll buy-in for $30, but I will play just one table and auto re-buy to $30, keeping an eye on my balance. Having decided on that, what is a good limit to set for how much to put in the game in one session?
