2NL is it ok to bluff the river? 2NL is it ok to bluff the river?

Dear all,

Goodday.

Given villain checked both turn and river, would it be ok to bluff the river?

Would you 3bet my hand pre flop in this case? or raise the flop? I flat preflop because i have not much read on villain and he seems tight.

Thank you.

always 3b and stack off pre 50bb deep
raising flop is perfectly fine this shallow seeing as your opp has no business betting this flop to begin with. equity wise you are doing ok vs anything he wants to call or 3b shove
ap bet turn small and ship river

Yes. This is a clear semi-bluff opportunity. He’s raised pre, Cbet the flop and then given up in my opinion. You will see this line from lots of players at NL2. They know they should raise their good hands pre flop, and they know about cbets but don’t know when they should. So they cbet most of the time and then don’t know what to do after that.

Forgetting the crazy equity you probably have from two overcards and nut flush draw (15 outs ~ 30%) if you bet 40c on the turn you only need a fold 43% of the time to break even (risk/risk+reward)

Another reason to bet the turn is that if you do get the spade on the river that will likely kill the action you might get from one-pair hands. Most players will be scared off the river unless they hold a tight spade themselves.

With 50bb effective you should be 3betting here to around 15bb and be very happy to get it in pre-flop.

Look out for spots like this next time you play.

Thanks for your reply guys.

Stack off 50bb is something new i haven't learned.

I wonder why stack off with 50bb? Is there a threshold bb to stack off?
For example if it is more than 30bb or whatever then i need to call all in/jam pre flop with AKo? But AKo is slightly worse than coin flip if villain has all the pairs in his range isn't?

What hand range do you stack off?

Thank you.

3bet pre!!! Not 3-betting AKo is always a leak. Villain has 50BB so gii if you can. Remember, a lower SPR means that hands like top pair rise in value.

Raising otF seems very reasonable with the nut flush draw. AND it balances out your value-raises. AND if Villain calls, he'll probably checks back the turn, making it possible for you to check back and see a free card.
