Heh, I don't think there is anything TOO silly on there. There is a 97o hand.

Edit: Well, I guess I did have a 38% VPIP from the button in this video, but the hands are 97o, AKo, 88, KQo, TT, and JTo. So, I just happened to catch some hands on the button.

Ok, can you splain a little bit about the AK hand you 4-bet shoved preflop. Mainly what's your thinking behind when this is a +ev thing to do. What types of players etc.

I was just thinking about this hand and I think a fold would have a been a better play. I got some variables tangled up in my head and didn't think it through as well as I would have liked to normally. For one thing, I somehow got it in my head that he was a shorter stack (I had 20BB in my head for some reason). Obviously, the shorter the stack the better the push is because I risk less. When the stacks are shorter, I am ok with getting AK all in preflop a bit more often because of this. Still, like I said, I think I misread the stack sizes. Another reason I was thinking of shoving is that I don't like folding AK when the stacks are short because I will be getting odds to call so much more often. A lot of times short stackers will be abusing their fold equity and then they feel that they have to call with ATo when they are getting 2:1 or so.

Having said all that, I think the fact that he just posted his hand says a lot, and I didn't take this into consideration at all. When players first sit down they tend to be a bit more conservative while they feel out the table. This should narrow his range enough that it is a fold.

So, if the stacks were a little shorter and if he hadn't posted(or if I knew a little more about him) I think the shove is good because I get called by some worse hands and sometimes get some better ones to fold. In this spot I didn't think things through enough and ended up making a big mistake.

Haha, no problem.

I will have to coordinate dinner next time so that I can play a little longer. The best decision I made all night was quitting before I got into too much trouble.

I just did this on a whim, so next time I will try to be a bit more prepared.

Yeah, for a second there I thought sure I was having deja-vu until I realized my wife was in the other room. Except she always starts asking me questions when I have AA.

Heh, yeah. And they usually are detailed questions.

I thought you all would enjoy that. She thinks it's funny at this point because you can here her walk in the front door and yell about it before you here her walk into the room where I'm playing.

Re: $.25/.50 4-tabling video

Are there a lot of people who are not downloading the file because they don't want to download WinRAR? If so, I can make available an option to download the file uncompressed, but this will make the file much longer and thus it will take much longer to download.

Stack to Pot Ratio

It is the size of the pot on the flop before any postflpo betting happens divided into the size of the smallest stack. Heads up, there is just one SPR. Multiway you have an SPR with each player(assuming you aren't the smallest stack).

This gives you a profile on how large the bets are going to be relative to the stack sizes. Different hands are better at different SPRs. It is a powerful concept that can give you an idea how a hand can play out and thus, how to plan/play your hand. It is a new term that was coined in "Professional No-Limit Hold 'Em Volume 1", so that would be the book to read to find out all about it.

Haha, not married.

I can understand why you would get that impression though!

She told me to get my butt in the kitchen. FWIW, all I had to do was heat up pot roast. Simple, yet I still screwed up.

Does anyone know where I can find the expected date release for Volume 2? I loved the first one and can't wait for the second (along with Dan Harringtons cash game books!)

Re: $.25/.50 4-tabling video

In the top-right table you limp with AQs in what IIRC was UTG1. You said that your plan was to limp/raise.

Is this to stop people from constantly raising your limps (Axs)?

In another hand you open raise with 88 UTG and get two calls. Flop comes out 59J (2h), I would check this as well against 2 opponents. They both check as well and the turn brings a 4 (not a heart), you check.

I would fire out a bet here. As with both checking, they either have missed that board (this will sometimes include draws) or are slow playing.

Are you leading out on the flop if it is only one opponent?
