Hey everyone. This hand was a hand I played earlier today. Not sure on V's, wasn't at the table long enough to get good reads on anyone. I'll be honest, reviewing this hand post play I am clueless on most of it.

I had AQ on the button, we are currently 8 handed. Effective stack is our stack (.88)

UTG limps, UTG +1 calls. UTG +2 raises to .15.

CO calls and I call, as well as BB and UTG.
UTG+1 raises to just .25. (he probably should have raised more) Everyone currently in the hand calls (Including me.)

Should I have folded/shoved here given my stack size? Should I have raised at any point?

Flop is JK3

Checks to UTG +1, who shoves for 2.01. Everyone (including me) folds.

I am pretty sure folding to their shove is ok, but preflop...there was a lot going on, and I'm not quite sure of my play here.

Looks alright. Some people 3-bet preflop but it's not mandatory. In the hand when action gets to you, your hand dominates UTG, UTG1 (before the re-raise), CO, and plays well against UTG2 as a call or as a 3-bet. You won't win the pot very often after calling behind since it's going to go 6 or 7 ways to the flop, but are able to take it on with confidence due to being last to act and having a strong hand.

Definitely a 3bet here for me a large majority of the time since there's some dead money in the pot. You realized the original raise was very small after there was already money being tossed in, by 3betting youre either charging their hands (which clearly aren't good enough to want to see a flop) to see a flop or folding out any equity they have and having a better perspective on where you're at on the flop.

Also, you say YOU'RE the effective stack, but the flop gets shoved for 2.5x your stack. Effective stack means the short stack in the hand i.e. the max value you could potentially win.

Yes. I was the effective stack but with so many people in with larger stacks he can shove his stack in and win more than just my stack.
