Survivor bets on bodog. 9/1 odds on next location. Survivor bets on bodog. 9/1 odds on next location.

What's up guys this is my first post here on this board. I ran across it while doing a google search and like what I see. I'm curious as to what anyone thinks about bodog's bet on the location for the next season of survivor. I've read from a ton of sources that survivor is going to return to palau for season 16. Simply do a google search for "survivor returning to palau" and you'll see what I mean. Bodog has Australia at 9/1 odds and if all these sources are correct that would be the winner. Palau would be a reused location but with the other rumor that this would be an allstar season that would add up. Is this worth a look or has anyone heard anything else???

Addressing both things:

1. Palau isn't considered a part of any continent. Good luck getting Bodog to pay out on Australia.
2. They did casting for the next survivor about 6 weeks ago. So either that was a front for an all-star show, it is giong to be half all-star/half new people, or all new people. Roll of the dice to me.

survivor fever has 4 women and 1 guy in the final 5, usually they're close to what actually happens

so survivor winner being a female at -115 is a good bet IMO

the source was some guy who was on the island around the time there was 6 people left

female -115

coin flip right? I'll take female

I can't/don't remember the last one though.
Who won again?
09-05-2007 , 05:29 PM
earl and before that was yul the asian guy. last time a female won was in guatamala which was 4 seasons ago

well if there's 4 females and 1 male in the final 5 i think its much better than a coin flip (and probably better than 80% since the women would tend to stick together and vote out the male)

yeah I'm not really worried about an All stars or not I'm just saying that would be more likely for a reused location. I would hope they would consider Palau as Australia because they are both a part of Oceania. I read up on it and someone said not grading Palau as a winner for Australia would be like saying Hawaii is not part of North America. I don't know maybe I'll just bet a few dollars, thanks for the insight.

The final 3 being posted online are IN WHITE BELOW

Amanda , Todd, Courtney.

Not sure how good the info is, but I haven't bet anything myself yet.

where to bet to get good odds?

time to bet your farm
09-20-2007 , 11:05 AM
the person who posted that is usually very reliable in previous seasons. she's the one whose bootlist i posted last season that was accurate extra for the middle spots (something like first 6 were right, next 6 were in the wrong order, but top 5 were correct)

those 3 are all from the same tribe so i bet Fei Long to win at -140 on bodog

i'm surprised they didn't get rid of todd which makes the female to win less attractive, but i guess if todd wins the 12/1 will cover the loss from the woman

i dropped 50 (the max) on each of them

courtney is 10/1
amanda is 11/1
todd is 12/1

Damn, I got out of work a few hours late tonight and forgot to lock in my bets on those 3. Damnit. Well I hope those lines won't suck hard core when Bodog reposts them after tonights episode.
09-22-2007 , 09:32 AM
wonder when they're gonna reopen the lines

the fei long line plummeted to -300
09-24-2007 , 07:10 PM
doesn't look like bodog is putting the lines back up for this

after watching the first episode i can see why they kept todd around, he's not the typical strong male on survivor

this season looks like it's going to end up the same way survivor guatemala did (except having a top 3 instead of top 2). strong woman = courtney, quiet shy girl=amanda, gay guy who is strong and good at challenges = todd

so if todd wins and you bet all the ones i bet you'll end up with a small loss ($15) over amanda and courtney winning

Alright where are my geography experts? Freakin bodog graded Asia as the winner. I don't get it, I thought I had a freeroll here, either Australia would be a 9/1 winner or most likely it would get no actioned, because its Oceania.

So does anyone have any advice when something like this happens? I can't find anything saying Palau is in Asia, if I could I'd accept the loss. I guess I should write to bodog but I've never done that before, anyone know how you do that, and when I do how should I word it? Should I argue for a push or try to say its more Australia then anything.

Any answers would be greatly appreciated either on this thread or by PM.

The country itself considers itself part of Micronesia which is considered part of Asia. I don't think you are gonna win that argument.
12-19-2007 , 12:53 AM
Are you sure everything I'm seeing says Palau is part of the mass called Oceania which does include Micronesia but that mass includes Australia mainly and has nothing to do with Asia.

Check out the wiki page for Oceania http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceania
12-19-2007 , 02:03 AM
Oceania sometimes is taken to include Australasia, which is made up of Australia, New Guinea, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, and various islands of the Malay Archipelago.[6]

You most certainly can't count on Wikipedia to be accurate.

Anyway yes I am certain they consider themselves part of Asia. Check the countries website for tourism out.

Also Oceania is an ecozone not a continent. So not sure how that supports much of anything?

Also to add Asia is split up over a couple of these so called ecozones.

www.cia.gov refers to it multiple times as part of Asia. They are even in disputes with the Phillipines it looks like over who controls the seas in that area.

Yeah well Asia was graded as the winner so there must be some kind of reason for it but I'm still holding onto my opinion that Australia makes more sense. I already sent them an email and included the following links.

https://www.cia.gov/library/publicat...k/geos/ps.html

under location it says Oceania. When you click on the map reference for Oceania you basically see Australia and some islands and none of Asia.

http://www.maps.ethz.ch/map_catalogu...ogue-australia

map of whats called Australia/Oceania and it clearly shows that Palau is included. This map can be compared to the map of Asia above it which doesn't include Palau.

http://www.worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/au.htm

This shows Palau in red ink and shaded green like Australia while the Phillippines to its East which is part of Asia and is shaded white.

http://www.fatbirder.com/images/map_australasia.gif

A simple map which includes Palau with Australia and not Asia.

I really think these maps point to the fact that bodog should have graded that wager as Australia and not Asia. Did anyone else bet Australia or Asia on this?

edit: I think I just found what I was looking for. http://www3.nationalgeographic.com/p...try_palau.html this is national geographic's page for palau. It reads Country: Palau Continent: Australia and Oceania. I couldn't find another that actually spelled out which continent it belonged to before finding this. This is national geographic too not a wilkipedia entry. How could they argue this?

Wow that was pretty painless. I logged into my account today and they regraded it as a win and added the $500 to my account. It is pretty much an open and shut case once you've got National Geographic on your side. So between DWTS and Survivor I've created a thread for a 8.5/1 and 9/1 winner, sweet. American Idol is up next, and I've already picked out my two favorites. Just need to see what kind of edit they get before placing bets.

For this prop thanks brendanb438 and I say that honestly not sarcasticly. If you hadn't put up an argument I wouldn't have dug so hard for those links and my case might not have been good enough for bodog to overturn the grading of the wager.

Very nice that they switched it. NG seemed to be the only solid site backing you. I called the number on their tourism site and spoke to someone in their country today and the she said they most certainly consider themselves part of Asia from a tourism standpoint.

Bodog is great though for these silly bets.
